    I don't get the sense that the dev team actually understands how any of the jobs work as a cohesive whole beyond their initial release. The worst examples of this occurs during expansions, where they nearly randomly rip out essential abilities to make room for new ones. Fingers crossed that it all works out. They really need to hire a team large enough to take on management of all the jobs that they keep adding.

    Speaking of speed boosts, removing the speed effect from Blood Weapon was a really bad idea. It really changes the feel of the job. They should have kept it on as a Darkside effect instead.

    Highly doubt they will make that kind of investment... they have proven to go the World Of Warcraft approach of borrowed power, homogenization, and "perfect balance" and the only choice you have is play a terrible game or go play a game that isn't terrible...

    I just started melding a ton of skill speed in, but yeah the other day i caught myself popping blood weapon stupidly forgetting it doesnt do that anymore, and it just depressed me even more. I had a theory about how they got to this point with tanks, but didnt play enough PLD in HW to be sure. Seems to me the dev team looked at what skill was pushed the most on each tank in HW, obviously WAR wanted got more Fell Cleave, so good. Then they look at DRK "they sure do push DA alot, lets have them push that button even more" so people complained about the spam of DA so they went "what is the second most pushed button? BloodSpiller? We'll just give them 5 of those and get rid of DA"

    They may yet surprise us in 6.0, but like you I have a lot of doubt, Its pretty obvious DRK was just their experimental franken tank, that they just used the good parts as role actions, and scrapped the great parts because it would be too obvious if PLD were running around with blood price proc'd/and or it couldnt benefit WAR as well as it would PLD so toss it. The only good out of all of this, is that....theres really nothing left to take from DRK, except the one damn thing they will never get rid of. Starts with Living, and unironically ends in Dead.

    This argument makes just as much, if not more, sense than my tin-foil conspiracy theory of needing to sell progression skip books on the mog station... unless it happened to both at the same time... which means progression skip books were a mistake to begin with...

    They could delete both Living Dead AND Living Shadow, and I wouldn't even care that those two "skills" were gone... then again Living Shadow was probably an attempt at trying to replicate GNB Gnashing Fang+Continuation burst but just felt more like a worse Demi-Bahamut and you cannot refund it the lost blood gauge or the recast timer if you waste it... just like Living Dead...

    Speaking of speed boosts, I wonder how many DRK knew that DRK and WAR play style swapping didn't just only happen recently in this patch? it has already been done by Yoshida since Heavensward era.

    Counter mechanic is warrior/berserker's play style while Life steal belong to DRK.

    I can tell you exactly what went wrong in HW new jobs designs, and this also applies to Astrologian at the time. Not so sure about machinist actually that job was an absolute mess as well. But with the tank and healer in particular, they felt that that the previous 2 worked so well together, that the new tank/healer should just be able to half/and half. This is why you got AST with scholar stance, or whm stance, and DRK being kind of like a PLD, but sort of not really like warrior, but somewhere in between the two they hoped. Yhey werent designed with the actual jobs in mind, besides the AF gear. They were designed to be fill ins, cause the previous set up worked so well. You cant make a franken job work so much. They had to buff AST to the moon because of this philosophy, and DRK well...they had to give everything it did unique, to the other tanks which really isnt saying much besides having a int debuff on enemies, and a gap closer for all, was sort of its only identity besides boosting some abilities with MP to barely be in the middle DPS wise, but sometimes they could get up there.
