From experience, it's actually one of the only things that they look at. In particular, these once-in-a-blue-moon Q+A threads are golden opportunities to get them to commit to a change on paper, at which point everything becomes much, much easier. The instructions in the thread itself tell you to upvote rather than reposting. It lets them 'objectively' gauge interest. The JP forums overall do a better job of this than we do. So does General Discussion, because it gets more traffic.

Generally you can trace a lot of big changes, including the removal of slashing/piercing/blunt debuffs, DRK's 4.3 changes, and the more recent Shadowbringers changes, back to a few specific posts. There's one in the healer forums at the moment that's likely going to be very influential going forward, and I think that's rightfully going to be the next big focus. That being said, I think they need to be much more specific on what they want to see changed.

It's easier to determine whether something needs to be forwarded on to the dev team (or even translated, for that matter!) by looking at the little number in the corner than it is to trawl through the content of every post looking for the good idea in the haystack.
