I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that a certain adult magazine with the logo of a bunny has indeed to do with the [now outdated(?)] perception that seeing a guy with bunny ears would be weird *glances at the "controversial" Gold Saucer bunny suit*
Understandable. Though I don't see why people are talking about quitting when I only asked for how long are people going to wait for male Viera if they're not announced for 6.0. Though, it would make it easier for me to move on to another game though, specially rivals like Phantasy Star online 2 New Genesis or even GW2 if it manages to somehow not close down development. That unfortunately doesn't narrow things down. I'd still be on a wild hunt and Googling just gets me recent results, even when I specify 2013. It's still hearsay at this point and that's unreliable information (remember playing Telephone as kids?).
I mean, FFXI is still around and still P2P, so who knows (and didn't WoW come out with a new race or two somewhat recently)? Anyway, if I can wait however long for a beast race to be playable (Hrothgar, in this case) then I'm sure people can handle waiting a little extra longer for the missing genders.
Hell, if Hrothgar weren't ever announced back in Fan Fest (or "leaked" via in-game French client bugs) and we were just going to get Viera, I'd still be playing FFXIV. I'd be massively disappointed because I still do not see the appeal of Viera (and never will. They're just humans with no-physic rabbit ears to me), but I wouldn't quit over not getting something I've been wanting since before HW came out. I'd quit over the game no longer being fun AND friends no longer playing/raiding.
It's the same mentality that had Miqo'te missing a gender in FFXIV 1.0. Must be something about japan's culture which sees certain animals exclusively as 1 gender. There's been a lot of precedence to it.

Yeah, I gotta admit dancer and the Shb msq were some of the best content the game has had yet. But to harken back to my question, are you going to want male Viera after 6.0? Like waiting until 7.0? That's what really intrigues me. To me by 7.0 the game would have crossed so much ground and life that adding them that far off doesn't add any value to the game, in my opinion.I had considered not getting ShB as many decisions left me underwhelmed and male Viera had been the tipping point. Of course, once Dancer gameplay came out I loved it and my hype returned. Obviously, I got the expansion and changed to f!Viera, given that the 5.0 story and raids have been a high point for me, I don't regret it.
Point being, it depends on what 6.0 brings. If the MSQ promises to be as good as 5.0, the zones look interesting, the new jobs look promising, we get some hair and hat updates for Viera/Hroth, and the gameplay changes fix broken systems? Sure I'll tolerate no male Viera/female Hrothgar for 2 more years.
At least we KNOW the dev team is aware of the desire for the missing genders, and are open to implementing them if the resources allow.
What does it say about people if they get Male Viera, but they dont care and aren't happy because they didnt get them exactly when they wanted them?Nah Nestaman, it's 6.0 or bust.
would you still wait 2 more years for male viera/female hrothgar?

Im not even sure if entitled or ungrateful are the wright words.....
If we don't get Female Hrothgar for another few years maybe in 7.0, sure, I can wait. The point of me playing this game is because I love the content Im playing and I love the MSQ. The ability to play as a fancy Furry avatar doesn't dictate my enjoyment of this game. If the game is still fun, why would it?
Male Viera and Female Hrothgar being added to the game as playable avatars at any point would be fine. The point is they were added right?
Why would they be any less interesting, Valuable or impactful to the game in 6.0 or 7.0?
It makes me question how much anybody truly cares about them if they would suddenly not care if they arn't added in 6.0...
It's not just a case of "a bit more work".It frequently blows my mind when people think hrothgar faces are just so IMPOSSIBLY BEASTLY that simple hats on the top of the head won't work for them.
Their faces barely extend farther than some real life humans noses/jaws can go.
GW2 has a male and female bestial race with full facial morphing and various hairstyles that go with every face, horn styles that go with every face, and various other way more bestial features that are more than some effects makeup on a buff human male body,
and they can wear every hat, mask, tiara, and helmet in the game.
It just takes a bit more work. And some don't work out as well as others, but at least the option is there.
I'm of the same mind with viera hairs and hats too. The "it's impossible because they're so uiniqe" is pr speak for "we don't have the hours to devote to this" :T
Like, I agree with the argument that the head of a Hrothgar isn't something inherently doomed because humans haven't figured out how to put hats or helms on cat heads. That's some straight up stupid non-sense as shown by Charr.
The problem with both Viera and Hrothgar is that they simply don't have a system or pipeline in place to accommodate such heads for hats and open face helms. The reason why GW2 can have Charr be the beastly all-4s-running animal leg and claw having cat monsters that they are is because they made the game with the idea to have them in. GW2 has never added a new race and the GW2 devs have gone on record saying that they simply will not add any new races to the game as it's too much work on all fronts. So if the Charr weren't in the game from the start there's no way the dev would greenlight them as a new race that would require they go back and make these systems in the middle of supporting a living game.
So it's not at all impossible, it's just a stupid amount of work at this point. Kinda like how an ass slider isn't impossible, it's just that given the way gear in this game is made that would require a stupid amount of work as there's no system in place fore it. So much so that it's basically a non-starter unless they update the game engine and such. Like I've said many times before, if the new races had Miqote heads with alterations there would be no problem making hair and hats and helms that Miqote wear work on them. Asking any dev to make new systems for the library of hats and helms in this game to look good on these races after this many years of content is a tall order.
Maybe it's something they're working on behind the scenes, maybe it's something for a new FFMMO or new Engine ... but I'm not shocked it's something they couldn't do rn.

You know what's stupid? That they put themselves in this situation haha. They wouldn't be facing this dilemma if they had just gone with full Viera. But now, they had to make this weird choice that we "needed" an animal race. It's not just a case of "a bit more work".

So the burden's on them to deliver what the people want, a sizable amount of people. I've never seen anything on the forum get nearly as much support as this subject has.
game aint going anywhere anytime soon
makes so much money for SE to stop after 2 more expansions just becuase character levels will be 100
6.0 or 7.0 doesn't really matter
FFXIV could easily go up to lv120 and above.
They just need to be able to keep making content. And perhaps more MSQ.
Or they could have just gone Full Hrothgar, cause apparently that was originally the plan. Viera only happened because there was a demand for them and Yoshi and team wanted to do what they wanted while also providing something requested by the fans. You know what's stupid? That they put themselves in this situation haha. They wouldn't be facing this dilemma if they had just gone with full Viera. Not saying it wont happen, but just because there is a thread about Male Viera that recycles itself and has so many likes and pages, doesn't 100% mean it will happen.
I've said it before many times, if he really wanted hrothgar more than anything he should've stuck with that decision. Nothing wrong with full hrothgar, but I'm not sure that would've passed company approval. The marketing department alone would've stopped him from it, as would've some of the other stakeholders like the CEOs and company president.
So he basically went against all the good decisions because he felt we needed another cat race. It's almost funny and completely out of character for him.
You know that you're on the top 3 people that add the most fuel to this recycling right? Your incessant opposition to everything is ls the purest form of fuel. Not saying it wont happen, but just because there is a thread about Male Viera that recycles itself and has so many likes and pages, doesn't 100% mean it will happen.
This is you essentially
