OMG I LOVE YOU! You used the word discrete properly. So many people use that spelling when they actually mean discreet and it dives me CRAZY. Also, while we're on the subject, please folks, learn how to spell PER SE! It's not per say, its per se!!As others said, usually the starting city and endgame hub are discrete.
On a functional level, in terms of expansions, Crystarium loses points for not having a Crystal Bell, a feature you normally expect in a main city. Lorewise it makes sense, but that alone diminishes the value of its inn.
Kugane inversely seems to the most practical of the expansion start cities, with an aetheryte in a reasonable position and no loading screens between features. That said with today's machines, by the time you'd hoof it over the the markets you could have probably just taken the aetheryte to reach the Jeweled Crozier in Ishgard. They are both OK.
I prefer the Golden Saucer to both places.
I end my day in Eulmore, and at the start, I pick up my hunts one floor down, then do a home teleport to Crystarium, and begin my quest cycle from there, ending in the Tempest, where I teleport back to Eulmore. I don't really need the market board, since I never buy anything from it.
I also wish that Eulmore had received more focus during the MSQ's and served as the primary 'main city'. The Crystarium is nice enough to look at, though Eulmore's aesthetics appealed to me much more. Decadence in the face of a world ending threat is a neat concept.
I'm gonna disagree with the original post.
Eulemore is too compact, and you see this more when the game has more people playing at once. People have always sat AFK in the end-game hub, and I have my own unrelated thoughts on this, but it leads to the place feeling too crowded. The main floor area is smaller than both Rhalgar's Reach and Idyllshire while we now have a larger player base than we did with either of these two places were the end-game hubs, and considering how much more importance the Crystarium has to us as an allied city compared to Eulemore, it just feels odd that we would abandon our friends to hang out with the people who literally tried to kill us.
Also the decor is completely a matter of taste... for me I find Eulemore to be tacky in its over the top opulence, and find myself preferring the more classy minimalism of the Crystarium as well as its more open venues. Also it's worth noting that both places have areas to sit and be social, since that was brought up, and both have a bar you could sit at. Additionally, it's the Crystarium that has the market boards which already makes it the place I prefer to hang out.
Though all that said.... why is there always only one place to spend tomestones? They could have put a tomestone vendor in the markets in the Crystarium and let people choose which city to hang out in. They already showed this expansion that they don't have to have the end game gear vendor in one place only since you can exchange for Eden gear in both Eulemore and Mord Souq
I haven't used either of those words and that phrase in so long. I have trouble with 'occur' mostly.
I assume to prevent players from overloading the city instances with population.Though all that said.... why is there always only one place to spend tomestones? I actually prefer the Crystarium if I'm honest, I'd have preferred the end game stuff be there rather than in Eulmore.
