Actually your rant reminds me, I did have one a few weeks ago. Showed up to our FC house as we run socials, they tried to do an armed robbery, threatened to burn the place down, then "burnt" it down, god modding. And then told us how bad we are at RP for not reacting to them burning the place. building. Trolling did not work, I went along with it up until the point they started god modding and it's canon that they were shot dead on leaving the building. We run a pirate theme there, so walking up to a captain and threatening them is well, gonna have you wind up dead anyway. If they were serious and generally thought godmodding an RP was how people do things, the moment they pull out a flame thrower is the moment they get shot, let alone be able to burn down a mansion.
Hah! That's unfortunate, but actually also kind of hilarious. I hate godmodding, but am glad you guys at least had a good canon way to resolve that. Just a shame you needed to.

Gonna start off and make it clear that IDC what you do with your houses, but I still think it's ridiculous that SE designed a housing system so wonky that people can just buy up dozens of houses by making shell FCs or whatever other methods people are using. You and others with the time/money (both gil and cash) to buy up a ton of plots can do as much sub farming and gardening as you want while other people can do exactly zero unless they have a close friend and/or FC leader that they trust.

Not a single house in any ward or subdivision in any housing zone on my server btw. Checked all of them just now. Miserable system. Not a dig at you, to be clear again, but a dig at SE for designing the system like this.

They aren't part... they'are pretty much the main reason honestly.

The problem with the housing lies solely with SE for creating it the way they did unless they were going to open endless wards. They could have avoided it by doing that or by having real instanced housing (not fc sized apartments - instanced HOUSES). Then anyone who wanted a house could have one. While it doesn't help with the current housing situation that some people own lots of plots, even if they all gave up those plots that still wouldn't meet the demand of everyone who wants a house.

You do not need alts. You can do every single thing on FFXIV on one character.

If you are taking the burden of levelling a whole new character in a game designed around playing one, then you are not being punished. That was your choice.

I don't care about the MSQ push, I get that. But why do I have to get 7k coms on my alts to achieve the same thing as one player does, I ran the same amount of dungeons as you earned the same amount of coms yet I'll never get the achievement because I play on alts??!? Why can I not friend my alt to my home to have access? Why do I have to unlock every dungeon, raid 7 times where solo accounts only have to find the "unlock" quest once. I'm not asking for much just a bit of fairness. If they wanted you to 80 all only on one chr then why give us the option to play alts. They didn't design it this way they designed it for both.

I play alts because I stared my MMO life with UO, then Lotro, then GW2, & Swtor.. Each of these game you create only chr per class.. So I really LOVE the idea of having my tank with a specific name and a specific look. The same with my healers they each have their own theme. There's NO way my male tank with his male name will ever be a Mch.. that's a whole different look and feel.

I just feel like some of the achievements would hurt no one if they are account wide instead of chr only. I don't mind the MSQ that's just "Apart of the alt package", but the side quest that unlock dungeons seams pointless. Some would say "You get an extra 1k if you finish the quest." I would say "I'd gladly give up the 1k on each of my alts just not to have to look it up again online because I forgot what chain of quest unlocks the one GD dungeon that my friend whats to run." just QoL updates nothing that would seen as a attack on 80 all Solo players. I'm not looking for advantage, just fairness.

Half my reason for having alts, prior to new game plus, was specifically to replay the story - all those sidequests included. I wouldn't want them cleared by default.

Meanwhile there are also things I don't want automatically unlocked. I can't stand Hullbreaker Isle's music so I don't unlock it, and I quite enjoyed being able to run Lv50 roulette for a little while without it being Snowcloak every other run.

Edit to add: I boosted one alt through ARR specifically to replay Crystal Tower in the lead-up to Shadowbringers, and (after several reads of the item description to confirm it only skipped MSQ) had quite the panic when I saw if had unlocked all the optional Lv50 dungeons and ticked off the relevant quests as well. Apparently raids don't count as dungeons so I hadn't wasted the money in the end, but still.

SE charges extra money on a monthly basis for people to play alts in the same server, and yet playing alts in my experience is an actively miserable experience unlike anything I've seen in any other MMO I've played.

If they're gonna leave it like it is, they shouldn't be charging $2 a month for the "privilege."

Sometimes, an alt is just a solution to play outside the FC since we don't have a "hidden" option as in Shype or Discord

For my part, what I miss is :
    1. Shared chest
    2. Wildstar-like housing shared with alts rather than a tiny apartement for each alt
    3. Account wide mogstation items

Don't know about you, but I sell myself gear via mannequins for my alts on the same data center. Just make sure to mark it as a set so it doesn't pop on the MB. The risk is you could have someone snake the armor from you but that's only a small risk. On the flip side. you could always sell your main an Allagan tin piece for a stupid amount on the MB and just pay the city-state tax on it.

I agree about the housing being shared across characters on the same data center.
