Since we see more female Viera outside their forests during quests (the one in the relic questline comes to mind) I certainly am positive that the writers might be able to come up with a logical reason for male Viera leaving their homeland easily. Even if we see just a few of them, just like with male Miqo'te who are pictured pretty rare compared to female Miqo'te. Let's hope we get some information about the missing genders by the end of the year.

I actually think they have already laid some of the groundwork for this. At the end of the Ivalician Raids, there was a line of dialogue about Garlemald "rounding up the hares" I think this could be taken as rounding up either Viera or male Viera. The question is why would they? Since then we have seen the amount of biological experimentation they are doing. So I wouldn't be surprised if they are rounding up Viera for this purpose. Incidentally, it is also something that could force the Viera to leave the forests, to A - search for those that have been taken, and B find help to stop the rest from being taken.

In any case, I think any reason would be along these lines or some direct threat to the forest. I am more inclined to think this plausible given the events of the resistance weapons the story which I think will factor heavily into 6.0.
