Because some people get enjoyment out of seeing people not take part in something they enjoy I guess.
That aside I support a delay, the story is important, and they do it for the release of a new expansion, how is this any different.
I made an initial post that was tangential to the original topic. Stating that them giving us 2 weeks notice on the actually patch release date was too short (regardless of the savage delay topic) and was replying to someone who said the quoted message.
Short answer is: no you can't, but yes you have to because SE leaves you no other choice.
There are plenty of places that require you to put your time off a month in advance (at least) and once it's locked in, the schedule can't be changed. So if you take two weeks there's no going back on it once you know the date. So in that sense it's a no.
If you're going to raid week 1 with their late announcements you need to find a workaround which can go from depending on the benevolence of your boss to relying on coworkers to pick up your hours. There are no ideal scenarios here.
Hence my original post.

A week won’t kill you. It’s not like there would be any disadvantage to it being delayed. Tomestone gear and crafted would likely be delayed with it, so nothing would be that much different from how every expansion starts—except it’s a week delay instead of two.Gonna highlight a key phrase that makes this entire thread pointless. Your Character, Your Choice. Plain and simple. SE didnt make your static schedule, SE didnt make you join a static, SE didnt make you do the raids first, nor should SE cater to YOUR schedule. You dont want to race in the first week, then dont! it REALLY IS that simple.
Exactly this, You can choose to NOT do the stuff in week 1. However, we cannot choose TO do it if its delayed a week. Forcing us to wait because you cant make a choice is not a valid solution.
I get the feeling responses like this are coming from individuals who either don’t raid or who can’t comprehend what’s actually being requested here.

I'm not missing the point, YOU are. You're missing the point. It's not a matter of "just don't do it then" since, obviously, that's always an option. But if you want to start progress week one, right now you have to do it at the same time a bunch of other content launches, which means delaying enjoying a bunch of stuff to get started on raids. By the time you get to one or the other, a good chunk of people have already done it and it loses some of its luster (and can be spoiled).
If its not fair that you have to choose, its not fair that my choice is taken away. Simple
I say the same to you, delaying when you start savage wont kill you either. I feel like I'm getting responses from people that feel their choices are more important than someone else's or just can't comprehend that THEIR choice shouldn't trump someone else's.A week won’t kill you. Whats next? Delay everything in a patch so only MSQ remains on patchday? No thanks, I like to choose when I do the content, not have it chosen for me. I've been doing a bit of everything and guess what, I don't feel rushed one bit. You know why? You guessed it, its MY choice.
I love crafting, why should I have to wait for that? Im a day one crafter so what you are saying is take my enjoyment away because "you feel rushed".
and lets be honest here, If you arent world first racing then you do NOT need to take time off work, that is such a horrible excuse

I don't personally care much for either side of this because while my friends and I pursue kills in the first week, we're not too torn up about it if we can't cause of whatever reason. So, I'd be fine either way. My main question is about the people saying they have to blitz through MSQ? Like, no, you don't? I unlocked savage before I even really touched this patch's story content, cause my group raids Tuesday evenings and I had earlier day commitments. I don't think I actually unlocked the new dungeon til Friday.

It's not the msq you have to blitz through if you raid Tuesday and don't have all day to play before raid. It's the normal mode raid story you have to blitz through, depending on how much time you have before savage and when you raid.
So go in with min ilvl gear? People do this all the time and I believe there is an option for it in in the duty finderBecause attempting to clear the fights in the first week is fun for people who enjoy challenging themselves. The final fight is highly tuned for the limits of the gear you can have available during the first week, thus promoting higher level play before weeks of gearing bring the difficulty down significantly.
Delaying savage by one week affects no one and only raises the dilemma of when to release the weekly-capped tomestone.
Nothing is taken away. You're still getting the content, at the same time everyone else does. This is literally just asking for something that's already done at the start of each expansion cycle to be implemented for the patches for the exact same reason they implement them then to start with.
Nope, never had 4 am calls of "servers up, log in", doing that to get kills, and then going to work at a normal time the next day before raiding all night. Never prayed to every imaginable god that our servers wouldnt lag like crazy / crash all day Tuesday when we had achievement runs to do. Never had to tank an add on a single boss for 6+ hours with no break because we didnt want the encounter to fully reset. Never had to do an expansions worth of level grinding to get week 1 raid kills in, because MMO's actually used to launch expansions with the raid content enabled on launch. Never compared timestamps on IRC messages with the other world first racing guilds to track who killed what bosses first, because aint nobody releasing videos, because that would get you removed from guilds.I get the feeling responses like this are coming from individuals who either don’t raid or who can’t comprehend what’s actually being requested here.
People obviously havent been racing for world firsts (both content clears and achievements) in MMO's for decades, so I wouldnt have any clue how it works.
Staggering content is stupid. Its always been stupid. Itll always be stupid.
Release it all on launch and let those who are determined enough to do it first do it first, and everyone else can play catchup.
