I know it would't really fix the problem, but maybe they could add headgear that replaces your current races ears with elf-type ears the same way the Halloween wolf ears replace Miqote/Viera/Horthgar ears. I'd love to see more bunny/fox/lamb/lynx ear head gear that work like that.

I partly have that problem. I just like to play characters that can look like an adult and more strict and beastly. So a lot of the races already are not of my taste. I do like the height of the Elezen women but not their necks and walking animations. Roe women are too buff for me.

So I did play as an Au Ra until the start of Shadowbringers because I could at least have one face that looks more "annoyed" and I do like the horns and scales. I just really wished we could be higher and have more options with horns and the amount of scales. (The artwork of the more sexy looking Au Ra was probably the perfect match). Then I changed into Viera because I loved the height, I loved looking more like an adult, especially with the body and I did have another "annoyed" looking face. Also the emotes were way less girly. But sadly I am also someone that likes glamour and giving my character different hairstyles. And I also missed the more beastly side, so in the end I am back to being an Au Ra and in my head my character is just a big taller than she is right now with a bit more "meat" on her bones.

In a way the height, animations and body of the Viera and the scales and horns of the Au Ra would probably make a near perfect race for me.

I like Viera, and Au Ra (female) the most. I have also played miqo'te from time to time. I don't really like the way any of the other races look, hyur female walk animation also completely ruins it for me. I am a bona fide fantasia addict I suppose, so I switch between the 3 on whatever impulse of the day.

Males in this game (and most other asian games) look terrible, or wimpy (feminine) in my opinion, and the big ones like Roe look bad - not that I would play a big race, if I play a male it's usually just a human. Hrothgar are OKAY (too big for my taste), but SE made them WAY too limited, even worse than viera.

Had my Miqo since launch only changing to Hyur only once (Never again).

One of best things about having alts in the game is that you can try different races. I always give them the ole college try, but it doesn't last long. Femroes and Highlanders are just too masculine for my tastes. Midlanders are fine, but just too bland. Elezens are just too long proportion-wise with their small heads. And Lalas? By the Gods, hell no!

The only other race I've enjoyed until recently is the Au'ra with my only real complaint is that the females should've been at least taller than the Miqo'te. Viera, I'm enjoying surprisingly, despite it's flaws. To the point where my catgirl's getting a little jealous. If I could give my Miqo'te my Viera's body, it would almost be perfection in my eyes.

I haven't really been impressed with any of FFXIV's playable races. Midlander men just happen to bother me the least and allow me to create a character the sort of facial features I enjoy looking at.

In WoW, I was invested in multiple playable races. Distinct starter zones and deeper, more relevant racial lore helped in that regard. I absolutely loved blood elves and night elves in WoW, actively playing both back when I was invested in that game. I also played a Worgen for a while.

To me, FFXIV is lacking when it comes to character customisation. I'd love to play a Highlander with more youthful, attractive facial features (and actual eyebrows) but currently that isn't possible. I'm also not terribly invested in the non-hyur races since most of them are just presented as acting and talking exactly like hyur do on many fronts. A consequence of most in-game civilisations being presented as melting pots, I suppose - and even when they're not, it's seemingly only a matter of time before they move in that direction.

I was looking forward to the possibility of Viera men being added as fierce, beefy defenders of the forest but that didn't manifest. So at this point I'm just hoping the development team just update the character customisation to account for a broader variety of tastes - within reason, of course.

I bounce around between races a lot because of the issues of immersion. Some races, to me, just look awkward in certain roles. Like I loved playing as a roegadyn, but when I swapped to caster this expansion for raiding, a lot of the casting glamor just looked really bad, and in my second most played job, ninja, roes just look really awkward.

I'd enjoy highlanders more, but the lack of eyebrows is really offputting.

Elezen are alright, but I hate now stiff and reserved their emotes are, same with midlanders.

For me, the porportions on the AuRa men are strange. And for Hrothgar, I didn't love how restrictive they are when it comes to being unable to change your hair (so you have no idea how badly your clothes will clip through what you want to wear while using a fantasia, and can't change it if it's terrible without another fantasia)

Which has left me for the time being as a miquote... they have better emotes than other similarly built races, but I do with I could have just a bit more muscle...

The point is that WoW didn't feel the need to add customization for 15 years even though other games have shown the ability to offer more during that time. It's not about whether we think it's okay, but whether FFXIV would feel the need to add more any time soon, especially with Viera and Hrothgar still needing to catch up (assuming they ever will) with the other races.

It's sorely needed. The state of some of the character models is utterly abysmal. I don't doubt that Highlander men would be a much more popular option if they were able to avoid the 'same face' issue and/or had access to authentic eyebrows. Furthermore, WoW is actually expanding its character customisation for the second time. It already updated the character models a while back and has now made it clear that they'll be adding more customisation options over time. I have zero interest in WoW itself these days but I hope it causes FFXIV's development team to finally expand the character customisation to account for more than just new hairstyles.

Like Au ra, when I noticed that it has no ears It took a bit to play as one again.
I'm inclined to believe you as the male Au Ra walk is absolutely ridiculous, possibly the most ridiculous walk in the game, but after playing as one for god knows how long I've gotten used to it for the most part. Sure I'm still reminded of how ridiculous it is every now and then but honesty it's not a big deal anymore.

I feel this could apply to Elezen necks, and now I'm seriously contemplating going as one on my main. Not a bad thing as long as I don't become a fantasia addict, but that definitely won't happen with me as I don't have the money to become a addict lol.

I for one would love some different body options, I know sliders might be too hard to implement, but I'd like elezen more if I could shorten their limbs, or I'd like au'ra males more if I could slim up those thighs, etc.
In that 15 years WoW has also undergone at least 1 major game overhaul in regards to visuals in general that may have even been a game engine overhaul in order to not look as visually dated.
