why not just make some type of frontline practice mode? there are obviously still a lot of first timers/unsure people around, and it would be less morale breaking than to get frustrated and not want to play the mode again, because lol some beginners got stomped by chuckle f's premade 3x in a row, etc. it's clear that ffxiv needs those "unskilled" players to have better queue times, so why are we mostly trying to disregard them? ffxiv in general is a huge pve-based game, I'm sure the population that signs up for its pvp is low. pvers especially seem to become disheartened quickly if they feel like they have 0 chance in pvp.

as for the practice mode, idk, maybe it should need 20 matches (or wins?? idk) to be able to play in the regular frontline, and tomestones/whatever event goodies would still be obtainable there, but halved (barring wolf marks but idk, maybe those could be halved too). probably off-limits after the 20 games/wins/whatever, save maybe returning players who haven't been playing for over a month, to get up to speed again, if they feel like it.

mainly just an idea for the people interested in pvp, but don't want to get thrown in a potential shark pit while they don't even know what exactly to do.

The more I think about, I just see the 24 man synced queue as ok. It will force those PUGs to lose and make them play more to actually get their items and leave like they would have anyways.
We were all new. Also, where is the relevancy? Rival Wings is the way it is because there no awareness to it now. On release it was instant pops for both Astragalos and Hidden Gorge. It dies because people get there reward and leave. Many NA/EU players who didn't play it during those points still do not even know if its existence because it's legit a side quest and in the bottom of the Queue. If frontlines didn't have a roulette and it wasn't some-what tied to lore it would meet the same faith. The queue time is already rough right on some datacenters to the point where you have to play around prime times for frontlines. I feel if Rival Wings had a roulette it would be more active than current frontlines because less people have the rewards and the player requirement is less than frontlines. I don't want to start a debate on which is more fun in 5.1 because that's all up to preference. But, on Japanese Datacenters they play almost every day since release and as mentioned above it's consider well received by Yoshi P.

Frontlines also has like 3 times as much rewards as Rival Wings. Rival Wings you get White Magitek gorilla and the Black one. Frontlines overall you can get 3 Grand Company Mounts, Black ADS, Yellow ADS, White ADS, and The Field Commander Set. There are some suggestion thread in another forum post in regards to frontlines and rival wings rewards check them out !

The relevancy is you being against the 24 man, which I'm sure is fun for those people, but that is up to preference right?
So why should we care about the New People's fun?
And if the queue is already rough, why do you think that is? You said you never did much Frontlines, why are you so worried about it now?

so what you're telling me is that the only time we actually get FL queues are when people are actually playing the game... where are my 72man pops at 8am on a monday morning?!

edit : shout out to all the lore RPers joining FL queues! you're the true heroes of the 72man queues

I don't play RW because I don't like sitting around in a slow mech with so few usable abilities I can count them on one hand that all have hit detection like I'm playing on AOL 7.0

Positive feedback tends to imply that he's happy with it right? I mean yeah, wasn't intended obviously, but he sure as hell isn't frowning upon it.

And considering that the west used the discord queueing method and Japan pugged, I'm really curious to see where Yoshi-P has stated that he has frowned upon this method. Could you link it please?
I'm not going to remember exactly what Live Letter it was from something over 6 months ago, this article is also way more recent. This interview just says it was successful, and it was. But Yoshida did say the intent of BA was to 'party inside and take on the challenging Dungeon.' Japan went about it the way they had initially intended. While the West were more organized outside the game. He said it was 'something they didn't forsee.' But didn't outright say it was bad, just that it wasn't the intended way the content was meant to be taken on.

Yes, because they intended the content to be way more challenging, they stated that, and it wasn't- because of the use of discord and coordination outside of Hydatos. We all got easy Ozma mounts. That wasn't what Yoshida wanted with this extra Eureka content. This is getting too off topic to the point where we're just going back and forth on both sides nitpicking every single word/phrase said. I'm sure Yoshida is happy that we all loved the content, I don't believe he's ecstatic about the way we got there, going against what he initially planned for us. Done with the topic of BA now, it was used an an example to show that people will use the systems available to them to play how they want to play, and that it's not abusing the game in a harmful way.

PvP is too small on some dc to make two queues(solo and premades) viable.
Though when I'm playing pvp and I'm new, I expect to get killed often tbh in any game, cause I simply don't have the experience.
If they end up making freelancer forced though, there could be a way to introduce matchmaking and make it fair by a) gc pvp rank (currently only used for achievements) or b) number of games played / wins. It would be just a metric for how experienced/how much time a player invested in PvP. This would prevent that new players all end up in the same group.

Even if freelancer is not forced in the end, this could still prevent that experienced player end up with premade experienced players. It would be a bit fairer.

This shouldn't slow down the queue in any way.

If there would be a global summary of frontline matches for your dc, there could be weekly buffs for "losing gc's" ingame, so people are more likely to change theirs. Also because GC identity is non existing atm...
I wish they wouldn't try to ignore the Lore around pvp so much, it would give it more charm. But I doubt any of this will happen lmao xD
