Rather than looking at the people afking in duty, maybe we should look at the design of having a 30-45 minute dungeon full of long winded unskippable cutscenes as a daily roulette?

Before they made the cutscenes unskippable these dungeons took 10 mins, that’s 30mins of padding added on. When you put people in content they don’t want to do with HALF AN HOUR of cutscenes they’ve already watched EVERY DAY to get a massive chunk of their exp, what do you expect is going to happen?

These dungeons are in serious need of trimming. There is so much fluff here that could be cut out and it would change nothing about the story or the dungeon like the many cutscenes that add nothing but Gaius or Nero or Livia lecturing about generic villain dialogue that even new people probably don’t care to hear and sections like the red giant boss going invincible so you just have to sit there and wait for Cid to make him not invincible anymore unless you use an exploit, or the proto-ultima arms that serve no purpose other than to slow you down and make no sense in the first place (the allagans built the ultima weapon, not the garleans).

Rather than looking at the msq roulette design maybe we should look at why you and some people are acting like that when the other players in the party are playing just fine.

Don't blame the game because you are some kind of bag.

Um, first off I don’t do MSQ roulette because I have better things to do than spend 10% of my subscription time in there everyday. I simply accept that when you put people in content they don’t want to do they’ll not want to do it, it’s not rocket science... so “we should be looking at why players are acting like that” is exactly what I just did... people act like that because it’s bad design.... whether it’s right or wrong is irrelevant, you can’t fix people, but you can fix bad content design.

Yeah the design is bad. That's why there is such a huge reward for pushing through it. It's notlike you randomly get it, you actively opt in to do it :P

Before they made the cutscenes unskippable the exp was poor, new players couldn't watch the cutscenes or were even lucky to get a queue via duty finder because less people did it. There were even cases of people being kicked from the instance for watching the cutscenes.

Now there is a nice hefty exp bonus and people use it to level.

You are not obliged to run the content. If you don't like it, don't run it. People that queue know exactly what they are queuing for, there are literally zero surprises and should therefore give as close to 100% as they can and there is no excuses for leeching.

In the words of Michael Mcintyre: You made your decision, accept your fate.

I think the idea of the roulette is to recruit players to help new sprouts through their story-based dungeon, with the payment of a huge EXP and tome reward. If you sign up for MSQ Roulette, you're agreeing to this arrangement. It's not designed or intended as a daily mandatory leveling instance. People need to stop looking at it as such and feeling entitled to the EXP. It's a story instance and you're only there to help new players.

Since you signed up for this, agreeing to the deal of sitting through cutscenes and guiding the sprouts through in exchange for EXP, you have no right to AFK or cutscene skip.

    This.

A poorly designed dungeon does not justify leaching or performing exploits. This game is not new, those were created ages ago and all are well aware that they don't really function correctly these days. For a sprout though, it is a big deal, for the story conclusion. If you can't stand it (I can't), simply don't queue. No one forces you to run it, but if you do, at least have the integrity to not afk/skip/exploit and ruin a new player's experience.

    I agree.
If we're gonna sit here and slip under the system and have people exploit all day...
Then they should alter the entire dungeon into a solo mission.
Newbies won't have to deal with this stuff nonsense, but the roulette will be removed.
I think that would help honestly since people can't be asked to be kind and wait.
