Um, first off I don’t do MSQ roulette because I have better things to do than spend 10% of my subscription time in there everyday. I simply accept that when you put people in content they don’t want to do they’ll not want to do it, it’s not rocket science... so “we should be looking at why players are acting like that” is exactly what I just did... people act like that because it’s bad design.... whether it’s right or wrong is irrelevant, you can’t fix people, but you can fix bad content design.

Yeah the design is bad. That's why there is such a huge reward for pushing through it. It's notlike you randomly get it, you actively opt in to do it :P

Before they made the cutscenes unskippable the exp was poor, new players couldn't watch the cutscenes or were even lucky to get a queue via duty finder because less people did it. There were even cases of people being kicked from the instance for watching the cutscenes.

Now there is a nice hefty exp bonus and people use it to level.

You are not obliged to run the content. If you don't like it, don't run it. People that queue know exactly what they are queuing for, there are literally zero surprises and should therefore give as close to 100% as they can and there is no excuses for leeching.

I think the idea of the roulette is to recruit players to help new sprouts through their story-based dungeon, with the payment of a huge EXP and tome reward. If you sign up for MSQ Roulette, you're agreeing to this arrangement. It's not designed or intended as a daily mandatory leveling instance. People need to stop looking at it as such and feeling entitled to the EXP. It's a story instance and you're only there to help new players.

Since you signed up for this, agreeing to the deal of sitting through cutscenes and guiding the sprouts through in exchange for EXP, you have no right to AFK or cutscene skip.

    This.

A poorly designed dungeon does not justify leaching or performing exploits. This game is not new, those were created ages ago and all are well aware that they don't really function correctly these days. For a sprout though, it is a big deal, for the story conclusion. If you can't stand it (I can't), simply don't queue. No one forces you to run it, but if you do, at least have the integrity to not afk/skip/exploit and ruin a new player's experience.

    I agree.
If we're gonna sit here and slip under the system and have people exploit all day...
Then they should alter the entire dungeon into a solo mission.
Newbies won't have to deal with this stuff nonsense, but the roulette will be removed.
I think that would help honestly since people can't be asked to be kind and wait.

Yea, when in a boring instance I'd just rather keep go-go-going then stop to do any due diligence to see if a vote kick is warranted. Unless stuff is not getting done I just can't be bothered.

No one really cares... 2 non sprouts can duo that place. I actually forget if it has a set iLevel or scales you and you outgear it... more important is that the fight mechanics are 5 years old and we’re used to much more complex fights. So we can run circles around those bosses and when that happens, folks stop caring if their carrying half the people.

Honestly I prefer it if they’re AFK. I like to play the game not breeze through it. The more people AFK the more work I have to do, the more fun I get to have...

Please AFK the MSQ runs you see me in... so i get to run around like crazy and not 1-shot the place...

Uh... no. I'll probably run next to you and kick the AFKers anyway. Like last night, our group kicked someone that AFK'd at the entrance. They didn't get auto-kicked due of inactivity so they KNEW what they were doing. Boom, kicked manually.

Is leaching really tolerated in most parties?

At least on Aether, every single time I've seen someone clearly leaching, they have been 100% of the time dismissed.
Some times I have even seen people wait til the Omega part 2 battle before the vote kick is initiated.
Worst I've seen is one time it was clearly a party of 2 friends, with one leaching and the other rushing ahead pulling everything asap to avoid the vote kick while taunting us. We still managed to kick him just before the last boss, justice was truly served that day.

I don't think people are ok with it from my experience, and rightfully so.
