If Leviathan and Titan are going to be a thing, I expect Garuda, Shiva, Ifrit, and Ramuh to be fights as well. Water, Earth, Wind, Ice, Fire, Lightning...
The thing is, they used the 2 elements that were meant to be the spark of life in the Empty. The rest would be a bit much, but I also wouldn't be surprised if they went that route.
Well, they want to realign etherical élément balance, We will have every other element except maybe light and dark.
I thought even having these two was too much. They could have written another explanation to disperse the aether that had us pitted against other bosses. The writers had complete liberty over this raid story and this is what they decided to do. I would have been fine with new bosses or FF8 bosses, but not this. I feel like the other four primals I listed are going to get put in, but I hope not.
Urianger went with water and earth first because they're the most basic to creating and sustaining life, but the others are needed for anything beyond single-cell organisms. Geothermal activity, plants spreading through seeds on the wind, things like that.
Unless Eden can somehow manage the process itself or if Gaia can somehow achieve the same result, the plan as it stands is to fly around 90% of the world to reach areas where aether of a given element is plentiful, draw out the dormant aether with something that will continue to draw out more of that aether, and destroy it to release the aether back into the environment. It's almost like getting a heart pumping, just with more go-karts.
Titan will never leave us alone. Ever. lol.Just when I thought I'd mastered Titan, he comes back a fourth time with some new Landslides to kill me... Why do you have to murder me in every new expac, Titan? What did I ever do to you?
That aside, the story was kind of sparse for this first tier. Eden's not even really a character, though it remains to be seen if that'll change. The music is pretty great, though.
From the way things have set up, I'm expecting a nice fight where Ramuh urges you to defeat him to save the First, a somber fight with fake Ysayle, and Ultima Weapon being the final boss since it's the source of Eden in VIII.
The WoL: "Sure, let me conjure it up-"
Pretty sure our characters are permanently scarred if THIS was their re-imagining. I remember trying to kill him in hard mode back during ARR launch for my relic. I spent hours, if not days dying to him. Eventually I beat it only to encounter Extreme some months later. "The landslides, oh the landslides..." about had me rolling when I saw it as a dialogue option. I feel like only those who truly experienced his fights as they were would really understand.
visually and aesthetically i cant complain, i mean since hw they constantly improved or maintained a really good looking fights and effects.
mechanically, while there is only so much they can do to innovate if at all, i trough it was also pretty good, nothing really new or we didn't know from previous encounters in the game, but the mix and the "cue's" for said mechanics were good, curious how savage would look like<3
overall i enjoyed the 1st tier much more then alex and omega, because it was tied to the msq and whats going on in the world around us and in the past (titan/levi) i was much more immersed and cared more about this raid and its story. don't get me wrong, omega and alex had their own story and charm, but i'll rank eden in a similar spot as coils, which is higher then alex and omega (not by a large margin, but still).
As far as the fights are concerned:
E1- I overall really enjoyed the fight. It got hectic a bit but it felt just right in terms of that.
E2- While I liked the mechanics of the fight, I felt there were a bit too much of them going on at one time. Wasn't as happy with this one.
E3- I really enjoyed Leviathan. I was worried it'd be too similar to Levi: EX, but I was pleasantly surprised.
E4- I felt the no markings on the landslide to indicate a safe zone for the very first time you see the mechanic in normal mode was unnecessarily cheeky -- they even flashed safe zones for the leviathon area destruction when you can also tell by the heads where it's going-- but as you get used to the fight it's all right, I guess. I would say it's probably 3rd in terms of fun factor for this raid sequence-- the triple landslide thing felt a bit much to me-- but I enjoyed it more than all of the fights in Deltascape.
"Then what is magic for?" Prince Lir demanded wildly. "What use is wizardry if it cannot save a unicorn?"
Schmendrick did not turn his head. With a touch of sad mockery in his voice, he said, "That's what heroes are for."
