light and dark aren't elements
Astral and umbral (light and dark) are combinations of elements. This is why cnj has access to three, whereas thm has access to the other three.
But they still require balancing. That's precisely what Eden's role is, tipping the scale from dark to light or vice versa.
So in addition to our six elemental primals, we may also get Light and Dark bosses, or perhaps something hat embodies both.
Being an FFVIII fanservice, I wouldn't be surprised if they used a version of Greiver for that job.
Or perhaps the big darkness-voidsent boss is a take on Ultimecia's final form.
I was just thinking what if one of the fights in the final raid tier threw in A LOT of remixed opponents from our memory. Massive boss rush gauntlet, things flying at us back to back. Odin, King Moogle, Shinryu, Thordan, Mateus, Gilgamesh, etc everything you could think of. Some fluff story excuse for it to go haywire and pluck a bunch of unintended stuff from our mind. That could totally happen. Well maybe not too many new enemy models because that's a lot of dev work.
I was actually expecting Ultimecia to be the boss of this tier. Possibly Necron for next tier if they had followed the SB pattern. Eden gave away the FF8 reference, and if you know your FFIX lore then you know who the original final boss was supposed to be before he got moved behind some random wall of coral in Memoria. The problem there is that nobody likes Necron anyways, so maybe we might have gotten Trance Kuja as a tier boss. I was also noticing how the final boss of ShB looked very much like Soul Cage from the end of disc 2 in FFIX.
I mean I'm glad they aren't re-using the same SB pattern again because it was unique for its expansion and it's a good thing they're changing the format. Just not a fan of this primal format. Hopefully they can get the rest of the aether collection over with in one fight. Like Garuda, Ifrit, Shiva, and Ramuh all at once in a team and then move on with the Eden plot in a new direction. I wouldn't at all expect Ultimecia to be a final boss for Eden for two main reasons:
Kefka and Exdeath weren't final bosses of their expac. Tier bosses maybe, but final bosses usually have something to do with the in universe lore and aren't just cameo fights.
The Extreme already got used for that dungeon after ARR. They wasted it already and can't use it again without having the effect lost of it already being in the game.
To me the best part of this raid, by far, is that Cid isn't around.
I don't think they have, at least not that I can remember, and I've been an avid music nut when it comes to 14.
That being said, even if they did it's not like this game hasn't already used themes multiple times in different renditions. Decisive Battle from FF6 was used in Dragon's Neck, was a significant part of the Warring Triad's phase 1 theme, and then finally again in Sigmascape 1-3. Saying "they can't use it again" is foolish.

Fun fights, I like them more than the Omega normal ones.
Yeah, that's why I asked. I can't remember Extreme anywhere in all my 5 years of the game. And even if it is there, 3d and 4th floors of Eden are simple remixes of original Trials soundtrack so... what's the problem.I don't think they have, at least not that I can remember, and I've been an avid music nut when it comes to 14.
