"EU data protection rules, also known as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (or GDPR), describe different situations where a company or an organisation is allowed to collect or reuse your personal information"Of course privacy regulation is different in different countries.
But for people claiming fflogs isn't a privacy concern I encourage to read: https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizen...y/index_en.htm
In particular:
It doesn't matter what format the data takes – online on a computer system or on paper in a structured file – whenever information directly or indirectly identifying you as an individual is stored or processed, your data protection rights have to be respected.
And also:
It is not enough to simply opt out, for example by checking a box saying you don't want to receive marketing emails. You have to opt in and agree to your personal data being stored and/or re-used for this purpose.
Fflogs is small enough it can just ignore EU laws and nobody is going to go through the effort to take actions, but that doesn't make it all legal.
Your dps is not "personal information".
You're good at the game? You're an elitist.
You're using a parser to better yourself? Elitist.
You're making suggestions on how someone can improve themselves? E l i t i s t.
You wipe a farm party constantly but you're having fun playing your way. Nah you're fine dude.
This community astounds me at times.
How so? I can already see your character name on this forum, does that mean I now know your name irl? Of course not. If we party together in game I can see your character name and your damage data from the battle log. All publicly on display to me without the need of a parser or fflogs.
parsers and fflogs do not identify you as an individual it identifies a character in a video game that you do not own.

Wordgames like those is why they added "indirectly". Also identifying someone as an individual doesn't mean you know everything about that person, it means you know enough to be able to tell that one person from another. How so? Once again, I can see your character name. I cannot identify you in any way, I can only identify that character. Your character is not you.

Ad companies only see my browser ID, and based on that they give me personalized ads.
They don't know where I live, don't know my name, my blood type, etc.
But it's still illegal because it indirectly (or directly, that is debatable) identifies me as a individual.
As I've explained identifying someone as an individual isn't not identifying my name, it's differentiating between people.
And you can differentiate perfectly fine based on characters in a computer game.
One character is played by one person, another character by another person.
aiqa (forum avatar) a.k.a. Eleasaid Seraqa from Zodiark just made a rather lame forum post.
I had a laugh.
For the sake of argument replace "rather lame forum post" with "crappy DPS parse".
Curious question: How is it that posting stuff in a forum and divulging your char name and Server is not a privacy problem but having that same char name and server published by FFlogs is?
If you are THAT paranoid about privacy you should not be posting here. You posting freely blasting your virtual data out to google crawlers etc yet bemoaning the privacy issues of FFLogs is rather hypocritical wouldn't you agree?
Only if SE were to use that information or would be hacked directly.
Others cannot make a connection from Char name -> RL person data unless you provide one.
Again, this is as much of a privacy issue as posting publicly on Facebook.
Stop reaching.
