Gender locked race?

The racism I'm talking about is the ingame slurs characters use against other races. A Charr would say "Why are we taking orders from rats and talking cabbages?" an Orc would say "These elves don't belong to the REAL Horde!" and so on.

I don't have an issue with such things. It isn't real and adds depth to the setting. Many stories would be terribly boring if they embraced black and white morality. Furthermore, in some cases there are very good reasons for bad blood to exist between different fantasy races. As Shougun stated, FFXIV does not shy away from exploring such themes either.

That wasn't at all what I said, though feel free to do just that. You're clearly struggling to grasp nuances and are seemingly oblivious to the sort of themes that FFXIV frequently explores. Fictional settings do not need to reaffirm your every real world belief to be interesting and successful. To imply otherwise is the equivalent of modern day book burning in regards to eroding away depth and creativity. It's perfectly possible to find racism abhorrent in the real world but find it interesting in the context of a fictional setting if it brings solid storytelling to the table. Flawed characters are fascinating.

Lmao, this is off topic. But I actually did enjoy the prejudice of being an Elf Mage in Dragonage, which was riddled with racism and the likes, I got extra dialogue just for being a different race as well as a mage. It adds reality, depth, grittiness and of course, you feel triumph when you overcome it. Not sure what the big deal is here, as someone of colour who has faced racism as part as growing up - really not seeing your point guy.

As an add on, I enjoyed being an alien/slave in SWTOR during certain quests while being part of the Empire, just for the satisfaction of slapping 'prejudice sith' and wiping the floor with them. Or being a Dunmer in Skyrim. People, enjoy this... doesn't matter what colour. It's not racist to enjoy the drama and to feel that satisfaction of besting it.

I hope we get more of this drama as time goes on and we inch closer to the Empire.

Best to step off the white knight path on this one.

Assuming both that this wasn't meant to be some gotcha/troll attempt and you haven't blocked me consider it this way:

In game you kill lots and lots and lots of people.

I ask what you like to do, and you say combat in this game is great.

I respond "wow you like to murder things? blocked".

Fictional racism against fictional entities cannot equate exactly to real life racism without some CATASTROPHIC concerns in a massive amount of areas. It's a game and if it can't be treated as a game then the logic that protects one element must fail for many many others, unless there is a element of not thinking the whole process through or an element dishonesty.

You see these arguments against sexy or violent things all the time, and at least as a "gamer" I find it a bit frustrating because honest logic will not flow from that argument unless they're wielding it incredibly consistently (which almost no one is on this issue "ripping spine out or running down innocents in a car game okay, boobs not okay that's a moral issue!" yeh.. okey lol). Or you can kill people but you can't kill animals (PETA had a thing way back when with whales in an assassins creed pirate game), if killing the animals is an issue then we have a much larger issue first.. which is killing people.

I also don't find any of the playable races to be particularly interesting in the context of the MSQ's. They're all forced to step in line and adhere to Eorzea's values, even if they're meant to be from a distant continent. It's all very dull and also why I predict Viera will be equally disappointing when they're inevitably forced to make the switch from fierce protectors of the forest to standing around giggling in Limsa and Ul'dah. Which is...apparently what a lot of those advocating for them to be added seem to want over them actually having some depth to them.

The pirates of the east are still pirates, they just help us because it benefits them in the long run. The Xaela joined the alliance because we played their king of the mountain game and won. Theres nothing implying that they’re all going to drop their lifestyle, Cirina even mentions that Magnai/the Oronir are already training for the next lizard brawl if you speak to her when she and the other Eastern representatives visit Doma. We're at the tail end of SB and Hingans are still isolationist while Suncat still live in tribes. Theres not a whole lot pointing to Viera completely dumping the idea of protecting their forest en masse, unless you mean people's individual characters. If thats the case, RPers are gonna RP. Someone's bunny be could a guerrilla warefare specialist aiding the Resistance in hopes to let things go back to the old fashioned separate-but-coexisting ways of Dalmasca. Or they could be an aspiring popstar who escaped the woods to live somewhere livelier and wear frilly clothes while waving glowsticks

It's become the modern-day equivalent of yelling 'heretic', tbh, and I notice the outrage about it is always very selective and one-directional, with instances that don't fit certain narratives conveniently brushed under the carpet and rationalised away. So I struggle to really take comments like his seriously, especially when used to stymie such differences in a game, where they add to what makes it interesting. And yeah, apparently much worse than the killing sprees you go on as the WoL.

I'm actually in the same boat with Midlander - it's the only one I can make 'attractive', the rest I have difficulties finding what I find to be 'cute'. Can't look this handsome on another race - to me anyway. I'm hoping for a change. I would like more pretty/handsome boys. If Hrothgar gives me that, then I'll get over some parts of my prejudice against them - but it's certainly not enough for me to be all for 'genderlocking' them.
