I think as long as we dont know how the males will look ingame, any wish should be okay. Be it small and skinny or masculine. We cant take art of it for granted seeing how the Au Ra (especially the women..) turned out in the end, so maybe they are like the concept art or maybe they are not. Saying that someone is not wanting Viera at all just because they have a different view on what they would like just creates more arguments and that is not how a discussion should be done, especially about something which we have no facts about.
We know that they are fierce protectors..Xaela woman are also fierce warriors and could be part of tribes that are constantly fighting against others, the males included. So we already have a gender in the game that should not be able to go toe to toe with the males yet they are equal when it comes to power. Also the NPCs dont know much about the male Viera because people die before they see them. Who knows, maybe they are just masters in stealth and thus take out any enemy before they are spottet. This could very well lean into them being not that big or full of muscle. If you take care of the problem before it notices you, you dont need much power.
About using bows: In this game any race can be an archer and any race can handle bows. From the small Lalafells, to big guys. So why should it suddenly be different with Viera? Just because something needs a certain strenght in real life does not mean that it has to be that way in a game.
So maybe lets all just accept that we have different views on how they could be and let others be able to post what they would want. Its not like that post would suddenly influence SE to redesign the race, thus no harm is done.
In the end I just hope that there is no genderlock.

Hah, that might be their logic for not showing male Viera ever. Schrödinger's rabbit.
"Oh no, half the fanbase want tiny delicate males and the other half want bulky warriors. Either way they're going to riot."
"Um... let's just not reveal them at all, and let everyone keep imagining their own version."
I'm with this. I think they'll purposely keep male Viera hidden, and give us Hrothgar as consolation.Hah, that might be their logic for not showing male Viera ever. Schrödinger's rabbit.

If they're similar enough to Viera, like a cousin race to Viera, based on hares instead of rabbits, it could even work out for most people. They'd cover all bases as a technicality.
"You got your bunny boys (or hare men) but male Viera are still a mystery."

Lol I dunno why people are making "let people post what they want" posts. Like of course. It's a public forum. Post whatever you want and stop being bothered by what other people post. If you think you're being attacked there's a block button, if you disagree, reply with a rebuttal.
As for how doom and gloom things look, I think the closer we get the more I think we may actually get male Viera for whatever reason? Like nothing new has come out but it just seems like something they'd do after already caving on male bunny suits. I don't think it's a DESERVED thing, since really whatever they give us is just something we either pay for or not, but I am slightly more on the believing it'll come side now. Slightly.
Edit: Still prefer a lion male race over a bunny male race, genderlock or no.

My post was made because there had been users that kinda implied that if someone wanted the Viera a certain way that they dont truly want Viera and some said how the art showed something else thus it couldnt be different to that. The same with them having to be huge and muscled just because they are protectors. (So you could say my post itself was laso a rebutal against some points)Lol I dunno why people are making "let people post what they want" posts. Like of course. It's a public forum. Edit: And wow that last male Viera picture is hot. The pose might be a bit too much but who is to say that someone cant be a fierce protector of the forest and still have that side to them in their free time?I mean we humans have more than one trait too.

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

Well, slightly more than I was previously. I'm still expecting no male Viera, I'm just worried there's a chance I'm wrong.
