Yoshi was being purposefully coy about waiting for the JP fanfest because he's always coy about things. The lore thing definitely leads to the hint that they're LESS likely to be made a playable race than more. We might get male Viera at some point, but I honestly think anyone who is looking with clear eyes and not hopefuly eyes sees that the clues point to a certain conclusion. And to spell it out, it's that they aren't making male Viera for 5.0.
To be fair, the female Viera we've seen all have the same face and don't even have unique animations since they use Au Ra female stuff. What we've seen is Fran's body with different hair styles and different colors. That being said, I also find it very hard to believe they are BARELY now starting to make Viera 5 months before expansion, unless they have a large amount of people crunching time on them. The combination of female Viera clearly not being close to done despite being 5 months away from ShB and the radio silence on males is what is making people confused. Add some accidental Hrothgar and its a recipe for disaster where no theory is more right or wrong than anyone else's just because there is a lot of conflicting evidence.

Also, I typed out a thing earlier to you responding to why I think gender lock is lazy but I accidentally deleted it. tl;dr it's like game designers can't think of anything else but hot girls and hulking men. To me, artistically it's lazy as they can't breach their comfort zone. Almost like they do with female primals. Notice how all female primals are hot girls in costumes while a large majority of the male ones are monsters? They even hid Lakshmi's tail for some reason. Strange. SE please give me monster girls.
