And I took inspirations from fashion model contouring (and a bit of JJBA tbh @@) and birds of paradise, where the males are naturally more flashy than the females. And in a society where the females never really get a chance to spend time with and assess the males, what better way of sexual selection is there than being really really pretty?

Since you lorewise can't tell the difference between a female or male viera until they hit puperty I imagine they're elegant, ballet dancer-ish with a slender physique. You know, amano-looking pretty men, players could have an option to have height and face options that enable them to look sexy or cute according to the players wish? That should satisfy a number of players no?

Just because you can't tell the difference when they're children, doesn't necessarily mean that stays the case for adults. The closest in-game comparison is Au Ra, since we've seen Xaela children, and there's not much difference in build between boys and girls because they're all using the same child model regardless of gender.

And I took inspirations from fashion model contouring (and a bit of JJBA tbh @@) and birds of paradise, where the males are naturally more flashy than the females. And in a society where the females never really get a chance to spend time with and assess the males, what better way of sexual selection is there than being really really pretty?

I feel like it should work the opposite way. Males turn up so rarely, and presumably without warning, that there's absolutely no use for sexual selection. A male finally showed up? Take it or leave it.

If anything, it's going to be the females trying to get the male's attention. He's the one with all the choice in this setup.

Edit: Personally, I'd give my bunboy white hair in that short cut style most male toons have. The one with the shaved sides and back and the cornrows on one side? But the overall idea here makes me swoon.

That would be the first time the males are shorter than the females, I kinda support it, they could be short and agile in the jungle and it would make females look more amazonian.

If they go the route of SUPER SEXY males then it would be pretty funny/great to see some females be jealous and having difficulty handling it, perhaps the most fabulous males causing both general populace males (non-viera) and females to swoon for them (as if they emit some seductive aura) - optionally the player character can respond in this quest (not to take agency away from the player, but to let them be part of it too if they wanted).

In a general "if I was making my own race" to play as myself I'd never pick the above to play as, but it really doesn't bother me that it exists and I can find humor in having fun with the idea (like above, sexy bombshell male causing a small riot when entering town). Perhaps that's why they have to leave the village, the female Viera cannot stop and the males have to keep themselves safe lol (in the Viera society males are the stereotypical sex object, rather than the females).

In fact I might find it neat if it was that way for diversity of visuals, but if only Hrothgar meets what I hope it to be since I know I want to play something more beastly and I feel the diversity is missing out on that as well (ideally we get both beastly male and female visuals (Hrothgar) and exorbitantly sexy male and female (Viera), because why not lol).

Although, of course, I don't speak for others who may have wanted a more masculine Viera as I've seen. Like the lion-viera we talked about many pages ago - I may have played a male viera if it was like that, which of course puts me in the bind when talking about feminine Viera in that "I think it'd be cool if you got that, but only if I got what I want too" lol. I'm not so far deep into this that I'd unsubscribe if I didn't get what I wanted though, I've just really wanted it for a while :P.

I do think for lore sake though that something extreme has to happen to males, either they become super aggressive and strong so they must leave or they become so damn attractive that they have to leave because Viera will overpopulate their own forest otherwise.. but I just can't fathom "nothing happens, and they get kicked out". If they look just like their 13 year old self/no puberty action then I just can't help but think "Viera, your society is broken - why are you so weird?" lol.

Something about male Viera has to be different, imo, than the pre-puberty 13 year old self (like the sexy bird route or hyper aggressiveness). I'm just having issues seeing it any other way :3.

Tbf I wouldn't play viera either, well I would, but as an alt. Too married to my blue cat :P

I'm also of the mind that XIV NEEDS a beastly race, I just don't think we should shoehorn that role onto Viera men. The design would look just too artificial and be yet another "men be scary, women be models" trope which is boring and needs to die. I DO want hulking cat men and women tho. (Not Roe style where women are kinda strong humans and men are freaking meat walls, no lets get some comparable skeletons going on here!(roe women are great tho don't get me wrong))

Though I disagree that something extreme has to happen. Moonkeepers have nothing happen and they still kick out the men. It could just be how they do. Tho I do like the idea of them kicking the men out to just curb the LUST and the males are so aggressive because of the frustration that lifestyle brings.
