    As someone that has leveled all 3 tanks I appreciate the higher starting level. That's less gear I have to get. The fact that it starts at level 60 isn't an issue. Bad players come in red, blue, and green so it's not like a bad new tank will be an issue. If anything I think it's a good thing since folks that have never tanked will be able to start with a decent kit right out the bat. It's like giving folks a jump option for free. Yes, a lot of folks are gonna have whiplash and won't know what they're doing. Most will give it up, tanks aren't the most popular class and very few folks kept up with Dark Knight when it came out. We'll just have a new group of folks trying out tanking. A lot of them will be bad at it. Most of them will drop it. It will click for some and they'll happily learn to tank. That's why it's a good thing for them to introduce new jobs in all the roles each expansion. It draws folks out a their comfort zone for the new freshness.

    My favorite part about all this on Gunbreaker, is that I don't have to consider buying and grinding for gear. I keep 50/60/70 gear for any possible new classes in a retainer all on its own. But the leveling 1-60 part is a pure joke in itself lol.

    I've never been a fan of this misconception that tanking is a difficult role. Gunbreaker starting at sixty is just fine, and I'm sorry to say it. But. If someone would barely be able to function as a new tank? They'll be worse as a DPS.

    nothing wrong with that people will probably go HoH till 70 and then do the story once 70 all the way till they're 80

    I know I am. I don't tank anything else outside of my little group. The good thing about HoH is that I don't need to worry about the gear I got rid off months ago and I have a decent current set atm just waiting for it. That said if it doesn't appeal to me after the first 10 levels I still have PLD and DRK.

    Woosh, you guys. The RDM and SAM's are in the game regardless if you have the expansion or not. You can not start as them, though you can party with them, that's the point I was making. The way the game is engineered there is no way to add a job to the game that is exclusive to an expansion pack because it would prevent players without the expansion packs from even seeing them. They can put whatever prerequisite they want, but aligning it with the level cap certainly makes it so that you can't just switch to them without playing the storyline of the previous content, or skipping it with the jump pots.

    The result is going to be people who have NOT played a tank, EVER, jumping into the new tank job at level 60. That is not an issue with RDM and SAM because those were DPS jobs, and DPS jobs can be carried. A Tank can not be carried in 4-player content, so there will be a lot of "git gud or git out" frustration until people learn it, and I entirely expect people to complain with impunity that it's too hard because it won't work like a DPS.

    It's not a problem. The players who are good will be good whether they started leveling from 1 or if they had an instant 60/70. The bad tanks will be bad no matter now long they've played.

    There are basically two types of people.

    A. People that will put in an honest effort to learn a new job before going into dutyfinder.
    B. People that won't.

    Whether it's jobs that start at higher levels or people using boost potions, it really doesn't matter. Someone will put in effort or they won't. I think the difference here is only that if a bad tank can't hold agro etc or doesn't know waht they're doing, it more direclty messes with the group, while a flailing dps will slow down the group but doesn't generally cause overt issues in leveling dungeons. So one might notice a bad boosted DRK more easily than they'll notice a bad boosted blm etc.

    The devs have already stated (and I 100% believe this) that the addition of Dark Knight in 3.0 did not do much to increase the overall population of players who main a tanking job. So it's safe to say that the new job is more for players who already tank more so than players who want to step into tank for the first time. Meaning the majority of players who stick with the job already have experience tanking, and those who are setting off on it for the first time and do things we wish they wouldn't will only be a thing for a smaller period of time.

    Also I'll add in that you're saying that starting it at 60 is somehow worse than starting it at a lower level where the majority of players will just level it up to 60 in Palace of the Dead anyway, and still have little to no tanking experience from it.

    There is a 3rd type. People that just bring misfortune as a specific job or role. Bad or weird things abound when I play a healer going as far as having an entire 24 man raid queued in DF load in dead while still in the initial starting ring waiting for the duty to start to having an FC mate somehow die in gold saucer while doing mini cacpots. I should start going into Eureka as one to see if I somehow cause the entire zone to wipe... >.>;
