I will give you that the light grind in Eureka isn't as bad as the original one or the one that came later in 3.0.

Dungeon atmas were a thing too, on top of the original atmas. I know people who took 40+ runs of AV, darkhold, and the like to get the drop. And it had to be synced.

Melding the materia into the scrolls on the original weapon, had to be in order using grade 1-4 materia, with failure chances. Its even worse now because grade 1-3 materia is so rare.
