You are right. People do kinda need to test the content first to give an opinion about it but if you are still in Pyros, even after truly hating Eureka you are just giving the devs false numbers. I understand that people want certain items but there is a time where maybe one should stop and ask themselves if they are not helping the devs with that thus maybe even create more of such content in the future. One of the biggest problems is all the people who say they hate Eureka but "only do it for the relic/hair/glamour" then complain non-stop about Eureka.
Don't do Eureka just for some item or hairstyle. That makes you a number on Eureka's Participation records, showing Yoshi that "People are playing this!" Just don't play it at all.
In a way, those who unhappily play Eureka are part of the problem simply because they help bump participation numbers.
I was in Anemos for a few days, first to try it out but also for the T-Rex mount. Yet I also (after seeing how bad it was imo) I gave myself a dead line and that I would stop playing it at x day even if I still did not have a mount. Thankfully I got it but after that I set no foot in it again because I did not want to further give the devs more participation numbers..if we had questionnaire after doing it where we could give them our opinion about this, then this might have been different but in the end, if you dislike it that much and still do it then you give them reasons to do more, because not only might they believe that people like it but might see that putting huge amount of items behind it might be incentive enough, no matter how boring or repetitive the content is.
(On the other hand I can fully understand why people still do it and I have no ill feelings towards them. Because in the end its SEs fault that they are reading numbers that way and either ignore feedback on the forum or not give us any ingame way to give them feedback)

I’ve said this before in others threads and will say it again here.
I played Eureka maybe 7-8h in total when it first came out. Despised it, thought it was the dumbest/most boring content in ffxiv. Until this day never set foot inside it again, so never been in pagos and pyrus.
Now I don’t mind the content existing. If there are ppl that enjoy it, whatever I’m ok with that. BUT putting the relic behind it was a huge disappointment for me... I don’t mind some mounts or some glamour, some story, minions, fine. But the relic for me was a huge disrespect for the community... for what the relic has been in past patches of ffxiv.

For as much as Eureka was trying to provide "FFXI-like content" the FFXIV devs completely missed the point of what made that game great. Did you know that in XI, Samurai was never mean to DPS and Ninja was never meant to tank? It was the exact opposite! SAM was supposed to be the tank and NIN the DPS, but the playerbase wanted to hit things hard with their Great Katanas, and found out that blink tanking with Utsusemi super effective. And the FFXI devs, instead of screaming, "Nooooooooo! You have to play our game the way WE want you to play!" instead catered to the playerbase and started creating gear and abilities that allowed Ninjas to hold hate better, and Samurai to deal more damage.Anemos was a decent success in spite of itself because everyone ignored the way the developers wanted us to grind and sought other ways to have our fun. Then when Pagos came out it was as if whomever has been pushing Eureka on the development team was having a full blown tantrum for people not enjoying the content /their way/.
When the FFXIV team found out Anemos became popular because of the NM train, they should have looked at that and designed future Eureka areas to cater to large group play. It doesn't matter what you intended, if your players are having fun with something then that's what you focus on!
The story doesn't really work here though. Ya,the NM trains ended up being the most effecient or rather easiest way to level, but if that's the case, why even have Eureka? The whole point of Eureka was so players didn't have to "FATE" grind and yet the moment they entered Eureka they FATE grind, because they know the reward ratio is best in those time based events. SE needed to add more life to Eureka, whether it be through Daily/Weekly content, heck even HUNTs, like a little bit of everything to showcase progression but all they did was have, kill mobs, chain, get xp, or do NM but you have to fight certain FATE NMs to progress relic, there was no additional path one could take. For as much as Eureka was trying to provide "FFXI-like content" the FFXIV devs completely missed the point of what made that game great. While yes they added Bunnies to search for treasure in the 2nd Eureka, it didn't solve the issue they were having which was level progression and using Challenge logs as a means to curb the leveling process was the laziest way they could of gone about it.
They could of added Beastmen like dailies that players could do in Eureka with objectives that sent you to each area to complete to obtain XP and lootboxes along with crystals but they gated Crystals/Lootboxes behind FATE fights.
The whole "Solo" aspect to Eureka turned out to be a lie because nothing within the content says a player can solo their relic weapon which could of easily been done from day 1 with HW relic.
Basically, when SE saw that NMs were the main attraction to the Eureka experience, they should of realize they had made a horrible mistake and fixed the experience so players could do more rather than wait on timers to progress for relic.
Why is that whenever someone complains about Eureka, people instantly jump to saying we should get rid of Raids too. I honestly don't understand how these are even connected. Wasn't Eureka made to be the other option for people that didn't want to raid? Unless we'd rather want just Eureka and no raids for gear progression for 5.0.
Idk, I'm just confused by the leap in logic every time this happens. Eureka is its own stand-alone content and should be viewed as such.
They're comparing the %s of people clearing the content. Raids cater to, let's be broad here, <10% of the playerbase. Eureka ended up having that many people who enjoy it, maybe even people who partake in it. That's where people draw the parallels, ignoring completely the fact that raids are meant to cater to such a narrow niche, while Eureka, locking behind it the relic, was aimed at the vast majority of the playerbase. So when, say, 2% of the players clear Savage, that's a theoretical 100% of the intended demographic. When even, say, 20% clear Eureka, it's a horrible, disastrous failure. That's where that that comparison fails.
Had they added daily hunts, daily quests, a few side quests, to Eureka I think it would have been much better. Right now it is a grind and nothing else, it is as if you copied a Korean f2p mmorpg filled with grind and increased the grind.
After having ignored it for a long time I figured I should push myself through it in order to get the new hair, yes I was really looking forward to that hair since I love how it looks. 3h yesterday and it was the 3 most boring hours of my time in this game, it was mindless, or rather mind numbing, grind this, grind that.
Today I logged in, looked at the MB, decided that 20mil of my hard earned gil was worth it. Could I have waited until the price on the new hair was lower? Sure, but I wanted it now and with a house furnished the way I like I have nothing else to spend my gil on. Could I have gone back into Eureka and pushed through in order to get it on my own later on? I could but it would have most likely driven me to quit the game, to me Eureka is that boring.
It is not that the idea here is bad, the implementation on the other hand is.
Should this content have never been made? No, it should instead have been done better with daily activities to do like hunts and quests, more main quests should have been there along with some side quests, it would still be a grind of sort just not as bad a grind.
Should SE never do something like this again? If that means exactly like this then yes, they should not do this for the next expansion or ever again for that matter. This is content that should be aimed to everyone, not some part of the community that enjoy grinding. If SE actually looks at what is wrong and works to make the next version a fun thing to do, then by all means do make one in the next expansion just remember to make it fun.
