Alphascape is AMAZING! (Spoilers!)

I love how the music in O12 is a mix of Maker's Ruin and Torn From the Heavens, I'm always a sucker for that trope of incorporating the main theme(s) into the final boss music, although it does make me think that it's a bit unsuited for Omega...

It's perfectly suited. It's basically remixed Praetorium music, it's where you fought the Ultima Weapon, and this thing is Ultima's beefier cousin.

It's really the one part of the fight that actually made perfect sense to me.

I was pretty impressed with the normal raids with respect to the previous tiers this expansion.

I was pleasantly surprised that I liked Alphascape more than I thought. I don’t remember much from Chaos; Midgarsormr was fun figuring out; Omega in V11N was a treat—the DF party I was in wiped about seven times before we finally pulled it off; and though I was skeptical about the whole “Adam & Eve” thing for V12N, I actually think it’s my favorite normal mode fight, so I’m super excited about the Savage version. Plus, that music is amazing—I’m ready to farm it endlessly for the orchestrion roll.

eh, no offense but the raiders would like it, Hyo, It feels tuned a bit more for them. You kind of got your wish for harder casual content, but to me it was a slog, especially the last fight with its mechanics vomit and high damage. I mean come on, 30k raid damage in a casual fight at that pace? I think they mentioned at that dengeki interview or somewhere they gave these fights to the newbies, and had to redesign one, and it shows. I don't see myself bothering with it often.

Why are you doing this? Is it really necessary to come into a thread celebrating content that quite a few of us actually enjoy? Please, let's not turn this into another raider-versus-casual debate here. I will also finish this post by saying that I do not intend to continue on this because I don't want to derail Moro's thread, but sorry, I couldn't keep my mouth shut on this one.

Last night, I think I broke several of my raid member's ears on Discord with how excited O12N made me.

Blind healing that fight is the funnest thing I've done in casual content in quite a while.

You seem to have missed where I said I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed Alphascape. I've had zero interest in the final raid tier due to no Ultimate in 4.51 to prep for, but V12N renewed my interest and now I'm eager to get to it in Savage. Unlike before where I didn't care. This was a good thing.

I'm sorry that I disagree with casual content being "Press X and Win". Don't derail a thread with your complaints (though I knew they would be inevitable once I went through NM). I don't understand your purpose with regards to replying to me... unless you're just looking to start another argument? If you want to debate it with me, my Discord is in my signature. I agree it's a lot to handle. My group wiped to it a few times on my first run then I went back with VanilleFang (previously of the forums, rip friendo) and even with me explaining mechanics (after I was asked to) we wiped a few more times.

It's definitely tuned around the idea that healers either need to know the fight or keep people topped off. I don't think that's bad but I also wouldn't want to force you to do it. It's not your cup of tea but does it have to be?

I guess basically my sentiment is like... let us have this one? Apart from Guardian on release none of the normal raids have had any bite to them. It's really refreshing. I know it's going to put some people off but at least it's different people being put off by it for once.

The difficulty feels right to me. Bear in mind, this is the raid tier for 4.4 and 4.5. If people want to gear up, they don't even have to do so through the raid itself - they can do so purely through tomestones. There's no rush, after all. I prefer raid content to have a bit of a challenge to it, even on the normal mode. It's also why I like the Return to Ivalice raid. If people aren't paying attention, the fights are punishing.

I wasn't a fan of the raids prior but Alphascape was a treat. Despite me not enjoying Chaos as much, Midgardsormr was a pain and a pleasure to figure out and kill, and Omega himself had a brutal DPS check that I hated.

But man.

That was a fun fight. I loved it. Honestly one of the best fights I've had. Definitely want to farm it for the minion and such.
