    Alphascape is AMAZING! (Spoilers!)

Just finished my first run through of the normal Alphascape raids and I don't remember the last time I had such fun playing without friends. I was with all pugs and it was still just such a great time.

Chaos killed me once and others plenty of times - I think he will become significantly easier as people learn the order in which his consecutive mechanics actually trigger. Everything was very dodgable though, overall I had a good time but it wasn't anything to write home about. I did get to healer LB3 when everyone but the tanks and I were knocked off, that was cool.

Midgardsormr did not disappoint. He wiped us three times before we beat him and each run including the clear was just full of deaths. I would say this was actually my weakest party apart from the MT who was awesome but everyone was a good sport about things. I think this fight will suffer even more from people just learning his tells and prepositioning. Still, the speed with which his attacks hit made me pause - this is when I really got into it.

For Omega I actually queued in and had Selli as my cohealer! That was cool, I've heard about her a lot from the forums. She was sweet and very helpful, I guess she had been in a party that had disbanded before so she had already seen up to the burn phase. We had 3 brds and a RDM for dps so no one could melee lb the add and we wiped once to that. Got our stuff together afterwords though! It was again a sloppy clear but I was left just thinking that the Savage version of that fight is going to be epic.

For o12s I think I had my strongest group of all of them but we still died the most. Everyone had Savage gear but no one knew what to do with it many of us (myself included, I swapped to RDM for this one) died to greediness in terms of our dps. We wiped at least four times, maybe more. Surecast is love, Surecast is life.

I guess I just wanted to say that this was the most fun I've had on a major patch day so far. I feel like they did such a great job with everything especially relating to the raids. I'm sure there are going to be people crying for nerfs soon and to that I say... er, well, I can't say what I want to say because it would get me banned (hi again Selli!) but trust me just give it an honest go. These are fun fights and people are generally really patient right now. Never a better time to try!

Thank you SE, please give whoever worked on these fights a large raise. They earned it!

Fire whoever decided to not only use nautical terms again, but decided to use "Starboard" and "Larboard".

    Otherwise, pretty cool tier.

It is cool no doubt, just didn't like the missed opportunity of using other weapons from VII to make the theme of the raid continue.

It's not that amazing. Good, but not worth gawking over.

    Music is good though.

Did up to omega. Not really impressed. Some thoughts.

    * They need to standardize tethers visually. Most people are now used to lines meaning "stay away from players" now.
    * The mechanics are pretty readable otherwise visually, but they seemed to compensate for making a lot more of them. At least it felt that way.
    * Omega's duty action seems tacked on.
    * Midgardsormr...look, wtf happened? He's tiny. I don't mean he's smaller than his first incarnation, I mean he's smaller than what it looked like from the cutscene. This is due to his mechanics of course, (needing to fit in the center of a tiny arena) but its a little jarring.

I'll probably finish normal today, but so far i was a little meh on it. I worry it may be a nightmare past the initial rush, though the mechanics are decent, the length may mean a lot of casual players may suffer some at it. Dunno.

I had a good laugh at Omega
breaking out a Limit Break macro to see if it would make him/her/it stronger.

He's younger. And he becomes full dragon dad size for his LB.

The "Starboard"/"Larboard" is a little wonky, and makes reading it and moving appropriately quite annoying. I went as healer and was desperately trying to keep people topped off in case they missed, so didn't have a good chance to watch Omega's movements. Was there another tell besides the attack name?

Larboard = Left, Starboard = Right. For the first time.

The second time, he turns around to face the south. So Larboard = Right, Starboard = Left.

No I know, but with no other tells the only way to differentiate between the two attacks is the "St" or "L" in his cast bar. With everything else going on, looking for those two letters can be problematic.

*Edit - especially problematic if you're already familiar with nautical terms and your brain just interprets the "arboard" as "Starboard" and you have to double-back and look again.
