Why do people who have done the content deserve the earrings? Is it because there is some intrinsic aspect of the content that necessitates that or is it simply because they fulfilled the requirements set forth by SE and thus are entitled to them?

Are you going to answer the question?
See this is what I mean, people don't want to answer the question because they don't have the answer ahah

All you have said the whole time is because the devs willed it. That's not an answer. Just restating what the devs are doing doesn't answer the question and you know it. Go try again
They all involve them not caring if they were in the same situation and that people who didn't get a chance at a item should have it for no reason. That isn't answering the question.
"Why do people who haven't done the content DESERVE the reward to the content?"
Still haven't seen the answer. I guess you guys are trying to say that just the fact you exist means you deserve it?

Actually, it's an excellent answer. Everybody playing this game agreed to the Terms and Conditions when they created their account. Part of the Terms and Conditions specifically states that the game and game related decisions can and will change over time. That is reason enough for the earrings to be added to the game. The developers thought it would be a fun addition. They may very well have a surprise in store for us. We don't know yet. Either way, it really isn't a big deal.

I guess if they said they are deleting your character for no reason you wouldn't complain cause the ToS says you aren't allowed to have a opinion I guess? lolActually, it's an excellent answer. You might not have read the OP then. Cause that is what the thread is about. :>
I'd be annoyed, though there's plenty of other games out there to play and in the unlikely event that the developers did decide to delete my character for no reason at all then that would be proof in itself that further investment would not be worthwhile.
At the end of the day, it's just a game. A hobby, one that can be enjoyed without relying on this specific game.

Participating in a thread doesn't necessitate accepting every premise laid forth by the OP in support of their argument. You seem rather unclear as to how discussion works.
I definitely noticed you won't answer my question though. I guess it's because you know you're wrong. :^)

There IS no other answer. You refuse to accept that because you just want to be validated. Your opinion MUST be the 'right' one and you will not budge. You will go around in circles, insulting others if need be, and claim no one will 'answer you' because of that.
The facts of the matter are thus: 1.0 Servers and Code are defunct and will not be used again. Thus the Calamity Events as they were will not happen again. Events people participated in will never happen again as they were. All the links I have seen have not stated explicitly that the items would never reappear, however. And, given that they are owned by the company and not the players, they are free to do with their code whatever they want. The only things explicitly promised to a select group of players are the following: Legacy Tattoos for Select Characters carried over. Legacy Chocobos. And Legacy Subscriptions. That is all. That the Developers have decided, after repeated requests from the now very large playerbase, to revisit some of the old content in some way, for their limited time Anniversary Events, they are going to release two items is a fact. It is in the code. It is clearly displayed on the lodestone page. The developers feel that this is something they want to give as a gift to everyone for being with them up to this point. NOW, the fight with Nael van Darnus was the hardest possible fight at that time. T9 was introduced and people beat it. Then a harder version was brought in. People beat it. And so on. People have stepped up and beaten versions of Nael van Darnus. The Developers have decided this is something they are going to give players at this point. It is their decision to do so out of all the items, considering players have stepped up and clashed with Nael. Perhaps not in the same way, but perhaps in a harder form given the difficulty at the time and how it was ramped up. That was for them to decide. And they did.
If you don't like this, that is for you to decide. But that is the answer in the end. You can have an opinion about it. We all can. But insulting each other is pointless and childish.

I already gave you the answer: It's not a question of deserving it to begin with. You obviously feel otherwise though, so I was willing to walk through your own reasoning. You're apparently going to spurn my attempt at conversation in favor of continuing to heckle people.
