I raided in WoW for a super long time so I got lots of cool mounts and titles. Though I worked hard to get them from top tier content, I always strongly disagreed with the idea that those shinies should be unobtainable when a new tier launches.
I don't really care how people get their beloved shinies. Someone else having an easier time getting them at a later date never annoyed me. I'm just glad to see people enjoy them.
It was just describing envy, that really isn't an exaggeration. I'm not going out of my way to break a rule naming someone. There's already been collectors complaining they couldn't get them after seeing someone else had them/finding out they exist. Practically every post calling 1.0 players entitled for wanting something the developers themselves stated was never coming back in the future, as an incentive to stay subscribed during 1.0. I really can't post that enough it seems, yet some want to try to re-interpret a simple statement like ARR wasn't even guaranteed to happen at that point (tip: it was long since in production at that point). The producer (now executive) being incapable of keeping his, and the team he represents, promises should mean something to everyone playing.
Even besides that. Everyone that's getting bent out of shape trying to downplay a limited pair of earrings someone else earned. "Why are you getting upset over some pixels?" No, why are you arguing over someone else's pixels if they are supposedly so meaningless.
Your opinion is an opinion. The devs have already decided to release them. They are in the code and the game already. Have been for awhile, given they were data-mined... Pitching a fit and being rather childish towards each other here is not going to change that fact. The company made a decision to do something with their old data which you agreed to when you clicked that TOS button and rented use of that data.
What people are going overboard with here is attacking each other. Devs have released these. They are there. Period. Going on about 'stolen valor' is an extreme over-reaction to a video game and for adults... worrying. Perspective of the situation, please.
Perhaps I'm missing it, but I don't see these earrings named in that post, either explicitly or implicitly. It simply says there will be exclusives. In fact, it seems to point towards getting to experience the content and a goobbue mount as the exclusive thanks. It was just describing envy, that really isn't an exaggeration. Also, if it isn't clear by now, I'm not arguing over pixels, at least not per se. I am arguing against a particular attitude that I think is a rather cancerous element in MMORPGs. I don't care about the earrings one way or the other and they could decide to remove them from the event tomorrow and it wouldn't bother me at all. The pettiness and neediness of other players is a different matter, however.
And even if I had the earrings and played in 1.0, I still wouldn't care if other people had them or not. That's the difference between me and you. I don't need to "lord" having virtual earrings over other people inside of a virtual world. It's petty. If it doesn't upset you why so adamant over the earrings being available for nothing? :>
Again, a lot of people like yourself only say the earrings should be available just "because."
Meanwhile people like me have legitimate arguments such as "Why should people who did not do the content get access to the same reward?"
That's pretty much illustrates both sides, you can say you don't care all you want, but if you didn't, you would understand why these earrings and similar items shouldn't be handed out for free. :>
I understand perfectly.
ITT: People from 1.0 are mad over a lvl 50 pair of earrings that give a slashing debuff from a hard fight five years ago and hold grudges over people getting them several years later for less stressful ways.
Why on earth would you hold a petty grudge over virtual, freaking earrings that were from five years ago? Is that really healthy to do?
Edit: Also, you can stop with the trolling already, it's not making your point any clearer, it's only harming it. Your emotes are a surefire and clear way to see that you're doing this on purpose to try and provoke others into getting angry. That too, is also petty.
