EDIT: I also understand that it was from a fight and not subbing. That doesn't change all of the other things the we are apparently not allowed to have.

I would imagine it's in the form of all your veteran rewards, achievements, titles, etc.
Like you can't earn specific achievements in the game anymore. The titles associated with them are locked to the players who have done that event.

Sure you may not run around as the "Half-boiled Heroine" but you certainly can. You earned it! (I'm guessing you've done the old Easter seasonal quest here since you've been around so long).
Your accomplishments in 2.0 and beyond are no different than players who have been playing since 1.0, other than it being a mostly dead game at the time.

You actually can if you can find an old copy of 1.0 with the code in it. Even though it says it's expired if you punch it in enough times mogstation will eventually accept it. This also works with expired minion codes.

Haha, like someone else may have mentioned, I think you might still be able to find old codes for them!
That being said, if they started giving these goggles out for an event, I'd be a little upset!

Though I might be the only one against that event...
