Repose, Sleep, Fluid Aura, Tri-Bind, Blizzard II, Freeze et cetera are still functional but usually only useful when doing solo content. Some of them are even useful in very niche situations while doing group content -- Fluid Aura is fine in the exact situation it's designed for but not useful otherwise.
Summoner Physick is useless. Spamming it results in so little healing per second that I'd wager a Regen/Aspected Benefic is faster and far more efficient. With all the work in SB to make every action, at the bare minimum, useful in a specialized situation a Summoner's Physick is simply trash without any use whatsoever. It is simply the worst.
I do miss clutch healing in 2.x lv50 dungeons, back when Physick wasn't useless and could be cross-classed onto a Black Mage, but I'm not looking for a healing spell (or a Raise). Drain is fine as-is and fills in for the lost self-healing fairly well because it heals for about the same as old Physick used to but you're still doing some damage.
It's not hard to imagine a Trait for Arcanists that still prevents the Summoner from rivaling Red Mage healing and even benefits Scholars. As was mentioned a Trait that makes Physick heal the summon enough to rival Sustain, with the classic dichotomy of efficient heal-over-time against inefficient direct healing, would make it useful; niche, generally only good while soloing but it would have a use.
Adding the Trait for Summoners alone could work just as well. However, I feel like a Summoner-only Trait should probably tie into their spell/pet damage or offer some new utility that's worth losing the GCD... Maybe a small area buff for the party when cast on the Summon which changes depending on which is out; maybe even have it linger like Shadow Flare so placement of pets is important and spamming it doesn't help much. Maybe reducing the Summon's ability cooldowns by a few seconds every time it's cast on them. There's plenty of possibilities.
Brief taking of the piss: if two DPS Jobs are Casters and have similar damage output why does one get functional healing plus a full party damage buff and the other doesn't? ☆。(ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧It~Is~A~Mystery*・°☆.。
