1 minute here, 1 minute there.
If I'm doing 5 or so dungeons a day that adds up. Suddenly your 1 extra minute a run has turned into ~35 minutes doing literally nothing.
But what about loading screens or other persistent timesinks?
Loading screens are consistent and don't demand my attention while they process, as most features.
I don't mind that extra 1 minute. My problem comes from the ignorance. Let's count that cutscene time in our 5 dungeons, and then let's count side rooms and bump up the time by 5 minutes a dungeon, which is on an extremely low side. That's ~70 minutes of the week.
I don't mind the side rooms. Just understand that what the other players in your party are sacrificing for you.
"But Luin the side rooms are apart of the dungeons, if you like dungeons then why dont you like side rooms?" Because side rooms dont allow players to play the game. I will give 2 examples of my 2 favorite dungeons. Darkhold and Stone Vigil (normal of course). One has good side rooms and the other is the worst in the game.
Stone Vigils side rooms are apart of the main path. They can be pulled with the mandatory mobs, either on purpose or by accident. All SV's side rooms contain loot, quality is good and will last until your i45. SV also has higher XP mobs in the side rooms. SV doesnt have caster enemies in side rooms.
Darkhold is the opposite. Darkhold has long hallways with nothing in it in its side rooms, many of which without enemies blocking your path; some locked behind doors in which you are REQUIRED to stand still to open for several seconds, breaking the cardinal rule of dungeon design; minimal downtime. Darkhold has caster enemies in their side rooms, so you cant pull them with the main mobs (even if you do ignore the impracticality of such long walks). Darkhold's side rooms don't all have loot, and as a level 44 dungeon, what little loot it does give, is worthless regardless.
Just ask. Dont assume. It's not just a minute or 5. This is why so many skip cutscenes and side rooms. So many players, myself included, we don't want to argue or really care too much about pulling more or less. But if you go and pull for us or assume we're fine with every side room, no. If you want to stop for the Wax in Haukke, fine. But don't do the top floor unless you need the mapping achievement, and if you do, just tell us. We're probably fine with it.
