@Dualgunner
This is why I'm saying that OP is starting to understand that he might be annoying to certain players, that he starts understanding why people call him elitist and all, and how wrong it was coming from him.

Yes, the original subject is about how OP was disillusionned about his performance, but I do still firmly believe that if he hadn't had that elitist mindset to begin with, he wouldn't even be depressing.
I main tank, and I think I am around 30 percentile. Do I care ? No, because I had lot of fun doing it. So 70% performed better than me ? I honestly don't give a dam...
I do use act to track my performance, but it is just to see if I'm doing things correctly, not a tool to give myself the whip.
In fact, the greatest feeling of satisfaction I had in that game, wasn't topping DPS as a tank... but spending 90 minutes wiping on king moogle ex, with a sprout group, and managing to beat it at the last second.
I honestly don't understand how you can get depressed over underperforming in a video game, this just makes no sense to me. It's not as if playing ffxiv was at the same level as playing in the Olympics !
It is a good thing to be harsh on oneself in order to improve, but depressing for a game - and especially for a ranking...

To you it looks like a small fish that fell in the shark pound, to me it just looks like a pride that has been shattered to pieces.

So even though the original subject isn't about elitists jerks and all, elitism still is the core of this problem (and many others, like the healers dispute).
