So.. what I'm hearing in this post is that you've been somewhat critical of others in other posts but now realize that you are not as good as you thought you were, at least at one this one job, and now sort of #feelsbadman?

Well congratulations, you are NOT in fact, a Toxic Elitist. A Toxic Elitist would be somehow be placing the blame on something else (with lots of stinging invective)--not owning up to it. I think the title I would give you is 'human'. And to err is human; to forgive is divine. So, forgive yourself for not living up to your own expectations and then you can work on surpassing them.

But also remember to have fun somewhere in there.

Exactly. Non of us have any legal ownership of anything in-game, our characters, logs etc. We are in essence renting our time here with SE maintaining sole ownership of everything in game and the overarching brand.
If pushed you probably could build a case where SE could question the publication of their data by a third party, but it's unlikely that they would pursue it.

To return to topic...

Back in 2.2, my sister and I were running through Haukke HM. We were doing a daily dungeon to try to get some gear, and wound up not having the damage necessary to kill the final boss there. She and I were both kicked from the instance, for the first time since we'd started the game. That was the first and hardest time I was disillusioned to how bad at the game I really was.

Tridus, when Kaiva posted in a thread a while back, someone said "people shouldn't talk about improving the playerbase when they are part of the problem." This was a few days ago. I don't think Kaiva posted any logs assuming that any random can criticize them and use them to discount any points she makes here on the forum because she doesn't parse enough for their standards. The points they made were about casual content, not asking for harder savage, to the point where her solution probably was weaker than you would think. I'm assuming this is what spurred the thing, because the focus of that thread was on ideas how to improve the general playerbase, and they were pointing at her for trying to suggest that when she was, well bad. (which is bull) This is what I mean. I'm not saying she is bad for asking for parses, but its bad to criticize someone's reasonable suggestions based on the parse they had.

As for FFlogs, idk. No one here would think someone scraping /say chat and posting it in a searchable database is kosher, but its as public in game as battle logs. I don't think legality is an issue, but it would be nice if data was opt in instead of opt out, and players didn't assume no parses=bad player.

Well, I looked at your fflogs... practice.

This is some pretty good advice in general and I’d just like to add to this a bit. Mostly I want to stress the importance of knowing your rotation. Having it down pat and understanding how it works will really help you adapt your rotation to the fight and adjust cds optimally. I’d also like to stress the importance of pushing buttons.
I know it sounds trite but the main problem is that if ur doing grey ish DPS most of your issue stems from not pushing buttons. So as agret recommended you need to have your rotation memorized. So just doing that doing your rotation and pushing buttons and keeping your gcd rolling will push you past the 70-75 percentile mark. There’s also the fact that raw percentiles themselves are great indicators at higher levels since kill times and comps and gear and such play a part. But for grey DPS your biggest problem will be making sure that you keep casting.
The ABC’s pf all casters are Always Be Casting so is just like to point something out to you if you don’t mind OP

This is the log of a really good summoner and you can see that he had almost 10 more casts per minute than you

So he has around 8 more casts per minute than you. This indicates like I said above the importance of knowing your rotation and being able to use your abilities even during mechanics. So I’d like to re iterate the importance of agret’s advice. But I will say that you should worry as much about raid buffs right now and focus on making sure your casts per minute increase. That alone should helps you see a good deal of improvement.

Finally I’d like to say that your main focus right now, if you’d like to improve is to focus on yourself and your DPS. By this I mean that there will always be someone who does more DPS than you and this applies to everyone. You’re new to raiding I think and there’s no need to get despressed off of your percentile. This only means that you have room for improvement (which we all do). So I suggest you follow Agret’s advice and that you stop being so harsh on yourself. For now just focus on doing better than you did last time and learning the job your wish to play in raid.

Pure healers are perceived bad because they are omitting a third of their toolkit in a game that highly promotes damage. If you're only out-putting 500 DPS on White Mage yet someone else is breaking 2,000 while able to heal just as efficiently. Well...

You realize those expectations are entirely through perception, yes? The Olympics became what they are because people decided to place an emphasise on sports and competitiveness. Coincidentally, Video games moving into the e-sports is essentially the same philosophy. What you did was strip video games to their base level, i.e., "it's just a game!" Hence why Dualgunner responded the way they did because, at its base level, The Olympics are just sports.

Put simply, some people opt to place a higher value on their hobbies than it "just being a game." You don't get to decide whether they should or not.

Like...what??? Where did Kaiva ever say people need to "git gud"? There is a difference between having a discussion about what we as a community can do to HELP each other play better and just telling people to "git gud".
