haha but we aren't talking about gear we are talking about aesthetics like scars, and hairstyles. What does that have to do with gear? I do not think anyone has mentioned gear at all in the equation. I specifically said nothing game breaking, and purely cosmetic. Who honestly gives a damn about town gear no matter how baddass it is if it's useless? Basically Vanafest was one big cashshop promotion. View it as you like, but you'd get items that no one else could obtain in game if you attended. How do you do that? Vanafest certainly wasn't free. You paid money (also attend, and enjoy a festival of a game you loved) to get the in game goodies.

server transfer - it's a service that can be provided for a fee regardless whether there's a cash shop or not, the two are not inherently tied together.

Server transfers are cash shop products. Call it a cash shop, call it a monetary convenience amenity that is not a necessity to your in game gaming experience. Whatever you call it you're paying real life cash for an effect in game.

If they offered it it's not a requirement to purchase anything from it. No one will hold a gun to anyone's head and force them to buy it. The cashflow will speak for itself. If it fails it fails, but I somehow doubt it. People were eating up that cheap overpriced jewelry they were selling to get a goddamn once a day warp pendant, with coat display, in game.


I understand those who are against it and that's fine, but would those who are really be that angry to let a vanity shop hinder your gaming experience if one existed? Abortion, and gay marriage. Choices are nice even if they don't suit you.

Also, vanity items ARE a big deal for me. I treat my appearance as importantly as I treat my stats, so offering items like that in a cash shop is a game breaker for me. I spend enough money on clothes IRL - I shouldn't have to do the same in a game that I'm already paying for just so I can get the appearance I want.

and why do those things have to cost extra money outside of the subscription cost? Nothing, and that's why people(at least I anyway) are against it. The whole premise of the subscription model is one that's traditionally based upon providing you access to the game for a monthly cost, not only parts of it. Cash shops in a P2P game is nothing but a pure money grab. You may or may not like it, you may be for or against it, but at least call it what it is.

For me it's not so much that a vanity shop would hinder my gaming experience (though it depends on the crowd, let's just say CCP learned a lesson or two after the backlash from their vanity shop roll-out in Eve Online). But rather that all too often it becomes the starting point of a slippery slope down the cash-shop drain that results in a trainwreck.

I don't question their right to spend their money however they want to, but I also reserve the right to have an opinion on the merits of their purchase.

I did not ignore your response. It goes without saying, noted. What else can I say to your stance that you have not reiterated many times before? Unlike most, I can have people disagree with me and take their view into consideration or say agree to disagree. I otherwise wouldn't have created this post if I didn't want to see other people's opinion. My goal was not for SE to actually implement a cashshop. I am not that naive. I do not think they care that much to read every single topic post.

You choose to judge people based on what they purchase. That is awesome. We really do need more close minded people in the world like you. Oops! Have that. Now, my stance on things that do not directly involve me, or harm others, goes to the tune of 'whatever floats your boat'.
