From how it sounds all they're changing is adding a new item to the chest's loot pool that you can exchange for a weapon of you're choice if you're lucky and can get it. Other than that it looks like the chest will be the same and be dupe city.
We really do. The difference between the NM's and Ifrit is that there is a variety of NM's to take on, and can only kill them but so many times. FNM's, people needed to build up their points, that is what made them worthwhile. That is no excuse.
How long did we the original world NM's keep us busy for? Darkhold didn't need it either and the majority of that gear was junk to begin with. We don't need stupid personal loot list based currency grinds to extend the life of content.
In fact having a shared loot list does great things to give linkshells and groups goals to work towards and keep them invested in the game for eachother. This sham of a personal loot list based currency turning the "top tier endgame" content into a transparent grind for gear we know will likely be made useless with the next patch must only work on complete saps with no sense at all.
Thank god Yoshida is keeping them happy at least!
Ifrit you fight every 15 minutes, and can be fought a lot of times in one night, this makes the content stale in a short time. I know by Nov., people were getting sick of Ifrit. If you are making content based around one fight, you have to make it last. People get sick of doing the same fight over and over unless they know there is something to gain, you have to keep people in that state of mind till the next patch. Game does not need to go into easy mode.
they were getting sick of ifrit for the same reason i have. i've had close to 100 kills at least and have 6/7 weapons, but i have watched my 7th weapon get thrown down probably 30 times as well as me having dropped 15 or more swords while our tank hasn't gotten one.We really do. If you think shared loot lists make a game easy mode, then you need a slap in the face from EQ1/FFXI. A personal loot currency grind makes it a simple matter of you alone killing ifrit X times. May as well just LFG shout in Ul'dah one weekend do it your 30 times or whatever, and be done with it.
A shared loot list (like every decent MMO ever made has had) gives groups and linkshells a shared goal to work for. They will continue to do that content until every one of their members has the gear they need/want, and can prioritize who gets what first amongst themselves in a fair and equitable way.
Personal loot lists, and currency grinds are a complete joke. They are by far the worst itemization systems to ever appear in MMO's.
What.
Every single thread I've seen on the subject of Ifrit loot only thinks that the weapon directly to your bag is bad. The drop rates are fine. He also said it'll be in your loot bag. So if you're 7/7, you can give your item to somebody else. Why are you so... cynical?
Okay after rereading it it seems like the item you can exchange for a weapon will automatically go into the loot pool, but weapons will go into your individual pool.
As for cynical, more liked pissed off after killing this SoB so many times and still getting shafted on the 2 weapons I actually want. Once you go for 0/70 on either one of them, you get to the point where you don't care anymore.
And speaking of the exchangable item, why not just go with that instead of this random weapon crap? That way at least you get a sense of progress than blind luck for items.

then you didn't read it much. they stated the current system will stay in place with all future primals except they will be adding /random and the tokens. you can pass the tokens to someone else, but the weapon will still go directly to your inventory.

Did you read my post? Don't remember going against shared loot list. Shared loot list is what I want, but you would have to drop the rate that the item is dropped, or people will blast through it in 1-2 weeks. If you think shared loot lists make a game easy mode, then you need a slap in the face from EQ1/FFXI. If you make it guaranteed item drop, you have to make stronger restrictions to the fight.
feels like all yoshidas ideas are good for are pickup groups and cliques.
