I've Lost Everything

I'm being punished for having real life issues, and as a four year FFXIV fan and twenty-five year Final Fantasy fan, it feels like a punch in the gut.

I know how you feel. Everyday I feel punished for even just remotely thinking about taking a break from the game when all the content is so dried up and not worth running anymore and we go months and months on end with not much to do, yet I have to keep on subbing just to keep my house. It really is a slap in the face. Coming from XI where I played that for 14 years and never felt punished one bit by taking a small break. I came back to having all my content and items still. I started playing the Final Fantasy games back when 7 was released.

What dumb is we're being punished for their mistake in not doing it right and there not one god damn thing we as a player base can do, even though it real money we are dumping at them. Who know our sub/mogstation money actually goes. It doesn't feel like towards this game that for sure. Theory is it goes to other games that are being made. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think its 45 days even so month and a half

45 days for the house.
35 days for the items that were removed from the house.
So 80 days total.

The 35 days are the crazy part. That's one sub cycle or you lose 1-2 years of work. I'm waaay less bent about the house itself than the total loss of all the items and gil. I got another GM last night who was very sweet, and even they thought the system as it stood... "needed work". (They were very diplomatic about it)

I want to know if the OP got his house prior to the auto demo being put in. If so then there is no sympathy to be had, more then enough time has gone by that unless you are like super new too the game. You should be aware of the auto demo timer and have no one to blame but yourself. SE puts out the information to keep us informed its up too us after that too make sure we look at that information. Sympathy and understanding only go so far after that you are on your own for whatever happens.

Would some kind soul on Gilgamesh with multiples please donate/sell a house to Sunfire??? I feel so bad for he and his wife. I think they learned the lesson of bad implementation taught by SE hehe.

Next time I'm hit by a car, having my hip shattered, ribs cracked, and have so much cranial swelling the doctors aren't sure if I'm going to be permanently brain damage, I'll make sure and pop out of my medically induced coma long enough to spend money I can't afford on a fake house that should not be taken away from me in the first place. Someone already offered to give me money to help out. I don't want to take from the community, as flattered as I am by the offers. It's very sweet and says a lot about all of us and the group we've made in this MMO. But even if I had all 35 (or whatever it was for a medium house then) million back, I wouldn't buy a house again. That was a ton of work--back in 2.4 I want to say--to just have it taken away. I'll do an FC room if I end up sticking around after this.

I am sympathetic to issues in real life but I am not symapathetic to game issues caused by being misinformed or uniformed. You missed the section stating items and gil retianed would be lost after 35 days that I have no sympathy for.

You could wait and see if the apts are upgraded. That may also be an option. A FC room, unless it's your own, can be ripped out from under you but they don't take apts away if you have to cancel sub.

Do an apartment. It's the same size as an FC room, but it costs just a bit more (500k). The biggest difference being that you'd lose everything again if you got kicked out of an FC (everything would go to a vendor for the 35 days again, but if you're having irl stuff happen and can't make it in that time you lose it), but you keep your apartment no matter what. And even though they haven't yet because they keep adding more wards instead, SE has the ability to add more apartments to the system in place, so it shouldn't ever have the same needs for demolition like the warded housing.
