Same thing happened to me. I've tried talking to GM's several times, made several tickets about it. They refuse to do any reimbursement or compensation.
Because if SE just take someone's house away and give them absolutely nothing, it'd be absolutely terrible PR for them.
But by giving them a chance to save their house (go inside it) as well as a chance to get back 80% of the value and the items (pick them up in those 35 days), then they've given the player a chance to minimise the impact on them and combined with demolition being essential, it doesn't paint SE in quite so bad a light, while still making housing a gil sink.
While that may be a fair point, when you consider cases like the OP's, where someone was unable to play for an extended period due to illness or other serious RL circumstances, Im pretty convinced that SE could in broad daylight murder and eat a small lalafel child on the streets of uldah, and people would still defend them (maybe the lalafel was using too much data)
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate your thought out responses, even though I don't agree with them entirely. I still feel like its a poorly considered policy on SEs part -especially in that the people whom it hurts the most are ones who were more invested in the game (again, whats upsetting for me is the $100+ in mog station furniture that went poof), people that from a business perspective are the ones they should most want to come back. But anyways I'm obviously biased in the matter and I dont think either of us is going to convince the other
That's because it was a Lalafell, if it was an Elezen - we'd scream bloody murder!!![]()
