Are you really sure of that? In the Live Letter we could read ‘Player will be permitted to own only one private and free company estate per world per service account’ It says OWN, not buy or purchase or get.

Before going full doom and gloom, wait for the housing site to go live.

Yup I know… but this kind of previews make me feel unconfident to SE and how they make and unmake new changes.



I must insist. This is not a change related to gameplay or new content. It is the Normal Subscription what is getting a change now.

Previous to 4.2 we have 8 characters per world.
From 4.2 we will have 1 character and 7 other things we should rename.

I think you should read more carefully, the only thing they're taking away is FUTURE housing on alts, which.. btw they could restore by allowing alts to access the primary characters house.
They are evening the playing field for all who want houses and dont have them. Until now the only chance you had was winning the lottery that was housing patch night and NOT getting all the errors.. AND getting to the house first. Now with the random destro timers you can't just flip a personal house, or just inherit a personal house. Everyone has the same chance.

Ask for a refund like anyone else and state your reason. Maybe you'll get more details straight from them.

Makes me think, what if SE were to quadruple the service fee for those who had hoarded houses? So from £8.99/mth to £35.96/mth. Of course, we'd probably need popcorn for the ensuing rage, but aside from that I wonder what would happen?

Lol, yes! If they'd treat extra housing like they do retainers and charge $2 per estate, the grandfathered hoarders would start dropping plots like hot potatoes once they were informed their monthly sub would be around $150. Now that would be a show, lol!

Codes have always been ether account-wide or single. XD

I think he's talking about the recent drama with item codes from physical merch, not cash shop items. Those have always been presented as account-wide, until recently when SE literally ninja-edited pages on their physical merchandise site to accommodate the sudden change, and were caught in the action by the playerbase. I want to say there's been an apology sent out since, but that no changes have been made to the items to make them account-wide again. Anyhow, it's a subject for another thread.

I don't understand how you came up with this assertion. The only chance it removes is that you (general you, of course) can make tons of in-game money by buying up and then price-gouging the playerbase for houses that would otherwise be up for grabs at their intended values, or the ability to decorate an entire ward as you please with absolute privacy. The chances it would give are to average players and FCs who want housing access but don't have time to level every crafter and corner every market on their server just to scratch up enough to afford housing in a game where the devs originally intended houses to be worth no more than the in-game prices they're set at.

Chargebacks on your credit card result in a perma-ban. I don't think I've ever heard a story of someone requesting a refund so they could downgrade their account to one per server.

The players owning more than one house or fc per service account don't need to be punished for doing what was allowed in the game prior to 4.2 rule change by taking their things away or making them pay more. They grandfathered it and moved on, over time these plots will slowly be lost anyways. Many of these plots were bought on dead servers(some exceptions) or bought on servers like mine when players either left them game in mass or transferred to the raid servers between HW launch up to the start of 3.2.The part that was the real issue was the house flipping. The randomized clock for when a plot can come back up for sale allows the players on the server to know in advance which plots will be up for sale in the near future. down side, you will have to camp them on some servers. The new randomized clock will work well to stop flipping but they went a step more by going to a 1 house/ 1 fc per account doubles up on that in case any loop holes are found. In my opinion one reason this got out of hand was the rapid drop in housing prices and the clock that devalued a plot. Those two items changed housing from a major investment when gil was very tight for the first year or so of the game. Low plot prices plus inflation made the cost of a plot go from a large out lay of gil to pocket change sadly.

To give a bit of an idea, I mostly craft and gather. The first FC I started in April 2014 took around 5 months of crafting and gathering to save up the 20m to buy it. I was the first plot bought in ward 3 Goblet as I recall and it was a while before any other plots were bought in that ward. At that time botting was all over the server and the price of most items were very low plus the server had slowed down a lot do to sticker shock on the housing release plus relic not being any fun or rewarding at that time. Back then stacks of 9999 shards or crystals were 1 to 5 gil each. Even gold and dark steel ore had almost no value.

On the housing website, one change that would be healthy to see would be the ability to leave a plot and get 80% to 100% of your gil back. Before they gave gil back I demolished one plot and gave a shout that it was open with no owner. The second one I did wait the 45 days on auto demolish to get some of my gil back. That should be changed to if I am not going to use it, I can turn it in today and get 80% of my gil back. No reason to keep it off the market for 45 days to get 80% of my gil back.

I don't mind the extra subscription cost, but I just wish they'd let me add my alts to my main's friend list so I can send them stuff and so they can share my main's house. For me, that would remove the desire to get a second house (not that that's going to be possible anymore). I also wish they'd stop the alt-hating policy of making more and more things single character per account only. Don't offer us alts at all if you're going to restrict them so that they have lower potential than main characters.

That is adding new content. Not exactly this thread’s topic, although related. The addition of new content, in terms of gameplay, is something applied to the whole player-base. In 4.2 they are changing, not only the content, but also the way that one specific kind of subscription works.

The subscription to standard gives you 8 characters per server nothing is changing about that nor are they changing the content available to you. You can buy a home, you simply have to choose which of your characters you would like it on.
