Honestly, if the information they have is the same as ours and I was a CS rep for this case, I'd probably have told you the same (that you are qualified). There is literally no mention of free time hindering an already qualified account. Basically, any information regarding free time on their details of the campaign point that it is just ignored and does not count for anything. This is unfortunately requiring the attention of CMs or reps that actually are responsible for letting the JP branch know there's either a bug or misleading information on the site. It literally states that free play periods do not affect the campaign (i.e. it's an ignored variable) and mentions nothing that it will hinder qualified accounts.

Are you sure about this? According to https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/mount...717.1497381225 it says "excluding free play periods"

Doesn't make it any better though, I never asked for any free time, just wanted to play on PS4 and get the mount...

What I meant by that was it does not state it will negatively impact you, in this case "you" being someone that is already qualified. The references to free play periods state they are excluded, meaning they are not a part of the overall period of subscription paid and are simply an ignored variable to their determining if you are qualified. The details for these things generally follow simplified legal jargon and are often specific with word choice. Again, as there is no reference to free play periods hurting your already qualified account (it specifically states free play periods are not affecting their calculation of sub time), it's a matter that should not have happened at all. In the end, this is either CS agents being bad at their jobs by now refusing to give you the mount or the higher ups left out crucial details (thus requiring their attention).

EDIT: Oh wait I get it now. You are on monthly, right? Or perhaps your payment period ended somewhere between the campaign period after you bought SB. So that means thanks to the free game time, you didn't pay for a total of 90 days. I was under the assumption you were under longer sub payments, since the CS reps would have recognized your qualification if they told you the 90 days were met (i.e. paid for). This does sound like it's a matter of miscommunication on the CS folks end for a matter that is a bit of an outlier from common problems. CS didn't know about or understand the effects of free game period, deadline ends, CS would see you didn't pay the required period (thanks to the free game time), rules state you need to have paid, end of conversation sort of thing. It is definitely pretty damn sloppy handling.

This falls under "false advertisement". As paid employees, these two people were representing Square Enix and even if they made an error, Square Enix needs to take responsibility for it. It's exactly how there being an old price under a product in a shop (from a rebate that is no longer ongoing) qualifies you to pay the (no longer valid) price, simply because it was advertised to you as such in the market. I bought multiple products like that, so yes, that does work like that.

Basically, them saying that you qualified automatically qualified you by law, regardless of whether you did so by the rules or not. At least...that's how it would be in Europe. Dunno about the law where you are. Either way, this is a legal matter that cannot be denounced by contract, so no matter what ToS or whatever says about it, it is valid (just like "You will not take X to court over service (...)" and similar stuff that is often in ToS particularly for free to play games is invalid, as it is an unremovable right and therefore the clause is not valid).

On a different note, you asked for the free time. When buying pretty much any base MMO game, a certain term is included so that you could actually play it. The length varies, but is usually the lowest term offered for subscription. I think I saw 7 days once though?! I am 100% sure that wherever you bought the game for PS4, you were informed of that.
