What if they just allowed items to enter the Armoury Chest if your base inventory is full? It could be a "remove only" tag for any items in your Armoury Chest and it would allow players who have neglected to check their main inventory at least 10-15 space reprieve before actually running out of space. They clearly have the ability to have item slots tagged for X slot only, they should be capable of having a yes/no situation that simply states.

    Is inventory full? yes.
    Is Armoury Chest full? no.
-Place Item in first empty Armoury Chest Slot

This would potentially strain the server a lot less than having to add a concept in which the item now has to go through the mailing service from the instance you are in in order to be given to your character.

The better suggestion would be to add a system in which the item goes into temporary storage (Very much like the loot window when you open loot chests) and is discarded when you leave the instance. Honestly, with just 3 new inventory management systems, the dev team could fix inventory bloat permanently, those being loot overflow, glamour log, and a token menu (additional things like tackle box would help as well).

Then again... SE is making money off of additional retainers...
