Eh, while I agree to your points, I suggest you read again my entire post which you quoted. That very specific part of my post you quoted was a reply directed to Remedi who suggested that the tokens shouldn't had been put in place to begin with.

My stance is simple. Rare stuff is fine, and I agree one should work for it, so long it's not stupidly rare just for the sake of being rare. If I'm not being clear enough, I think the current primal mount system is fine.

And that's actually good, remember we are talkiing of vanity items in the end and the value of vanity items increases only when that thing is rare

While I can't speak for the entire playerbase, but I'm sure there are some players like me who just want the shiny stuff because we like it, not because it's rare and so we can become brag about it by afking on said item in the newest highly populated city. Aka, we don't give two shit about rarity, or rather, how some people think it should be rare just so they can brag about having it.
