It should not take 99 clears of doing something to get a mount, it goes against the idea you do not need to play a lot to get things.

Correction here for you. You do not have to play a lot to do 90% of the game. In fact, creation is not needed unless you're doing savage content.

You're looking at it from a, "I GOTTA DO 99 RUNS NOW NOW NOW" mindset. That's not what the option is for. You can take your time. The mount is not going anywhere. the 99 is a safety net. If you did the content 99 times and still didn't get it, you get a pity trophy. Square did that for, you guessed it, the more casual player that cannot get on everyday to farm this mount.

It took me a total of 105(give or take a few) runs of Sophia(I had spent 10 on PLD weapon way back when it was relevant gear) before getting the whistle. I still have most of the totems, and spend some of them on glamour gears. I was doing 5-10 runs a night when Sophia was the most recent Triad primal to kill, but gave up when I started working on my relics instead. Just recently came back to it, and did the farms because the completionist in me wanted all the birds(still need Zurvan...have only cleared him once though...so could be a LONG road).

Maybe I'm alone on this, being being an ex-wow player I was pleasantly surprised to find out the drop rate on mounts seem to be noticeably higher in this game. So I can't quite get on board with the people complaining that it needs to be higher, thinking back on how I cleared ICC every week for years and yet still never got Invincible. There was no token system either, so I just wasted a lot of time for nothing. I think tokens are kind of a "awe, you ran this place 99 times and still didn't get a mount? here you go". And it's kinda a nice change of pace.

I'm not necessarily talking about those who afk in some place with something rare, I'm talking about the whole experience, If everything gets handed to you eventually you won't feel it anymore. It's ok to desire something new and shiny but I don't agree to the pandering that's beign given. Are you sure you would feel compelled to any new thing if it's given so easily? I mean why rolling on the mount now at all when you can get it with 99 eventually (notice that you can actually extend this to raid loot and primal weapons).

I still think the both of you are missing the point with 99 tokens thing. I think the other players have more or less covered what I think. At the end of the day, you and Snow_Princess proved my point; there is no win-win situation, somebody's bound to be upset. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, I'm just glad that in this particular case mine align with SE's decision.

I'm just glad I can buy some of the mounts with 99 totems. I'm the #NeverLucky person so its appreciated. Now if they only made it so they didn't take up inventory space and added the ability to buy the new dogs with totems...

While 1mil MGP looks like an insurmountable amount it really isn't. It is just a bit of a grind unless you really enjoy chocobo racing.

Devote one day a week to just completing your Saucer challenge log and make doing the dailiy mini cactpot a routine and you will be surprised. For example I bought Fenrir just before the Make It Rain event returned. Took me the duration of the event to earn enough for the chair plus some discounted Bunny Chief pieces.

Posts like this upset me because it shows people do not understand time factors. They stated they have this game not to cater those that log in every day. If this is the case, to do say get this weekly done that weekly done, by the time you do all the weeklies and dailies you do not have time to do stuff like rare mount drops. So there is no "do it on your own time" it is CANT be done because you dot have time for it.[/B]

I work 40 hours a week, study for and take flying lessons and code in my own time and I still play a lot of FFXIV. I understand time factors.

What you do no understand is you can do a 10 minute run every day and in 99 days get the drop. You chose to log in and do the weeklies instead of the mounts, that is your choice. You want it all on a plate so the people who have more time have nothing to do. You have lots of content and can pick and choose what you do. If you have time to do dailies and weeklies you have time to not do them and do the mount farming instead. Or, as I said, know if you do just one run a day for 10-15 minutes you'll have it in 3 months - kind of like how hardcore raiders in this game finally get all their gear in a few months of raiding and they spend many hours a week just doing the same 4 fights.

Obviously the only solution to this conundrum is a "Give It All To Me Now" potion from the cash shop. Upon using the potion a box arrives in your inbox with every item drop in the game negating the need to play it at all.
