    Part of their effort to make the job easier was to take the decision making away from what people should be doing once they're IN DWT; hence the inability to use Aetherflow stacks at all while in DWT.

    I can't remember exact what interview I read or heard this from, but I distinctly remember it cuz I was scratching my head the whole time lol.

    True. But I find it funny how their "taking the decision making away to simplify" and "you'll do that during DWT" turned out to actually make a lot of us weaker (understand : take a lot of us further away - than we ever were in heavensaward - from the creme de la creme of SMNs on fflogs).

    They really suck at making a job simple. I mean they managed to turn a lot of medium good players into medium bad players DPS wise. The gap with tops has never been higher ! Please Square stop trying to fix unbroken things and make it go the opposite of your intentions (!)

    For all practical purposes Ruin III is now Ruin II which was our old Ruin spam. There is no reason to keep the MP costs as high as it is for the lower potency. Heck lower the MP and keep it the same through the Ruin IV proc if they need some balance. If they replace Ruin I into Ruin II at level 38 and lower its MP to let's say 360 then change Ruin III to 720 when not in DWT it would fit the current play style better.

    DoTs are a solid place to buff if you can't get to mechanics, as it buffs AoE (slightly), ST and gives you more DPS in the case of a death (since DoTs aren't affected by our current AF/DWT penalty). If they changed too much, our rotation would be all over the place between patches, like MCHs are (and if you don't play one, trust me it is PRETTY ANNOYING). It's as close to a passive damage increase as it gets with the current SMN.

    It's just not exciting nor the mechanical changes needed to fix the class, which we knew weren't getting fixed until 4.1.

    One of the things that truly disgusts me is how Aetherflow was nerfed from 20% MP restored to 10% MP restored not even allowing us to summon our pet after reviving!

    Are we all unanimous that Aetherflow should either be reverted to 20%, or the MP cost for summoning pets be reduced?

    I just hope there are more QoL changes happening for SMN between now and 4.1, but it's unlikely.

    I'm toying with that idea, tbh I would like to see a mechanic where you cast swap your egi, I'm also toiying with the idea that fester and painflare are no longer aetherflow skills, but rouse and other pet related abilities are, however would be quite the rework to be done

    edit: unrelated but before I wasn't saying that SMN weren't using Ruin3 outside DWT before, I was saying that probably the devs didn't intend for that gamestyle to exist to begin with and probably they are not supporting it either, ofc if SMN have extra MP they are free to burn it trough ruin 3 I'm doing it myself

    Wouldn't be the first time they 'expected' players to do something one way, but found them being more creative and doing it another, both from a progression standpoint and playstyle standpoint. Raids and Ninja stick out like a sore thumb in regards to this, and if Summoner ends up on that list to, then they need to fire their QA department or stop expecting players to play a MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER ONLINE RPG in a way they want the classes to be played. If they really want it to be that way then they need to just turn XIV into a single player .hack esque type game. Cause they sure as hell keep underestimating what players can do, so much that their devs have mentioned and stated things we were able to come up with were either 'unthought of or impossible (ex. lvl 60 Nin rotation compared to what the devs used)'. Yet sure as hell common sense would tell you otherwise.

    They do expect us to find new way on how to play the jobs, and yoshida often says so in the LL, consider that the ruin 3 things went on for the entirity of HW they might have accepted it for a time, but as some said they wanted to ease the skillcap on all jobs so that's probably why they are trying to make that playstyle less enticing.

    Just revert it back - further drifting away from where the ability was, purely to try and fix what shouldn't have been unfixed in the first place, is unnecessary. Stick to the simple, no need to wait until October-ish for 4.1, revert it and have done with it.

    The DoT potency is close back to 2.x and 3.x to where it's 110 potency from bio1/2 & miasma 1, 120 w/ miasma 2. It's a ok change, but I was hoping to see a ruin 4 proc change. I guess i'll have to wait to see what they'll do in 4.1.
