Well I know it would be similar to the other tanks but a General that was using a hand and a half sword with the designed going off of General Leo from FF 6 would be cool and if not a mystic knight would be another cool idea.

I not surprised if they go with hammer tank which will no doubt bring in some new tank who like to play with hammers
What's interesting is that Dancer could potentially fit any role. Last concept I made for it was as a tank, using a minor periodic shielding effect as a means of mimicking the effects of an evasion tank while making it easier to balance.I think it is more that SB brought in two DPS jobs so have been speculating ideas for healers and tanks that could be brought in. I can just as easily see dancer being a support melee dps as much as I can see it being a healer. (one of the reasons why I think jobs should have role variants. ie. monk tank, dark knight dps, etc)
As for the hammer tank, the most common hammer user in the FF series I think was Viking, which never historically used hammers as weapons.

Fun Fact, Original WHM used to use hammersWhat's interesting is that Dancer could potentially fit any role. Last concept I made for it was as a tank, using a minor periodic shielding effect as a means of mimicking the effects of an evasion tank while making it easier to balance.

Yeah. Dancer could fit any role. Evasion based tank, DPS, or a Dancer Healer. Evasion tanking was pretty enjoyable in XI, even though it wasn't Square Enix's idea for Ninja initially. What's interesting is that Dancer could potentially fit any role. As for a Hammer Tank, Geo could fit this role with a Hammer-Bell hybrid weapon![]()
Similar to the Sacred Chime Hammer in Dark Souls 2
Could have the Hammer Tank be a Magitek Armor Knight. Wielding a powered hammer to strike foes so hard they inflict damage down debuffs, effectively mimicing the effects of normal defensive tools but in an offensive way.
I would be worried it would bcome the off tank of choice though if it could armor break enemies to take additional damage...
I think Geo would work best as a kind of support Caster or Healer. Basically focused on creating buff zones by purifying the land. It would be awesome if they could basically put a "Hallowed Ground" style aoe under the tank so that they hardly take any damage from that upcoming tankbuster because of the protection of the earth.
A caster Tank, if that's a thing :3
My biggest concern is that by making Geomancer a healer it will be too similar to White Mage. It would have to have mechanics that differentiate it from White Mage, but even then, using similar elements within the same role may seem redundant.I think Geo would work best as a kind of support Caster or Healer. I think a Support DPS Caster would be better in this case. Summoning Luopans with different buffs, spells that could debuff enemies, with interesting job mechanics could work well I think

Well, I am hoping SE won't be completely stupid and release two DPS again, so I will assume Healer and Tank.
Healer: Almost certainly will be a Dancer. SE saw the desire for it in SB. Geomancer for healer makes no sense as it uses the same basics WHM does.
Tank: This one is REALLY open in the air, but we need more blunt weapons and a hammer maakes sense. I don't know what it would be called, but this is where I put my money.
DPS: Hopefully none until 6.0
