So I have this theory..If I can recall from a very old interview with Yoshi P, he said that his favorite final fantasy was Tactics (I could be wrong). If you notice a lot of jobs we have currently are in Tactics. RDM is an outlier to this theory, but it really only came into fruition through popular demand.
Almost made it into SB:
Time Mage
Oracle (aka Mystic Mage)
Story Quest:
Geomancer
Potential Candidates:
Mime (BLU esque?)
Dancer (Thavnair?)
Highly unlikely next Expac:
Arithmetician
Mediator
Onion Knight

You guys are, each and every one of you, forgetting the best class in Ivalice: Judge.

Blue mage Tank, Heals or DPS I dont care, I just want BLUE.
Square, can we have an OCE fanfest now?
If Geomancer was to be in the game, it would have to meet two requirements:
1) It can't be a healer, otherwise it's going to look far too close to White Mage.
2) It can't be the Hingan one from the AST storyline because.....
even if the spells it has are placeholders, the culture around it makes it almost no different from a basic Conjurer. The "spirits" it deals with aren't that different from the elementals that Conjurer deals with, and the elements it deals with are no different from Conjurer.
I agree. I honestly see it as a Tank with a bell/club/light armor with a earth shield or something... Or a spellcaster DPS which could focus on placing one of 3 Luopons. Earth, Air, Water, which could drain TP to keep active. And then spells that only work with specific Luopons. That way you weave different Luopons and spells. If Geomancer was to be in the game, it would have to meet two requirements:

I think it could work really well.
You could also have a tank Geomancer using these Luopons as well as a means of damage deference, where a portion of damage taken is redirected to a luopon that has a specific amount of health, and Geomancer could also have an ability to heal that Luopon or something along those lines.I agree. Agreed. I really think they have an opportunity here to make something cool and unique. I'm really hoping we'll get Geo. Still bummed I had to wait so long for it in XI.You could also have a tank Geomancer using these Luopons as well as a means of damage deference, where a portion of damage taken is redirected to a luopon that has a specific amount of health, and Geomancer could also have an ability to heal that Luopon or something along those lines.
If we ever get a dancer healer, I'd like for it to be a HoT based healer that uses short cooldowns to turn their HoTs into barriers or burst healing. (to help prevent HoTs from being wasted into over healing or for those oh, shit moments) and for the dps aspect still be at range and perform a combo that deals damage and applies a buff to your party depending on the combo performed. Think something similar, but not the same as ninja mudras.
