Yeah. Dancer could fit any role. Evasion based tank, DPS, or a Dancer Healer. Evasion tanking was pretty enjoyable in XI, even though it wasn't Square Enix's idea for Ninja initially. What's interesting is that Dancer could potentially fit any role. Last concept I made for it was as a tank, using a minor periodic shielding effect as a means of mimicking the effects of an evasion tank while making it easier to balance.
As for the hammer tank, the most common hammer user in the FF series I think was Viking, which never historically used hammers as weapons.
As for a Hammer Tank, Geo could fit this role with a Hammer-Bell hybrid weapon![]()
Similar to the Sacred Chime Hammer in Dark Souls 2
Could have the Hammer Tank be a Magitek Armor Knight. Wielding a powered hammer to strike foes so hard they inflict damage down debuffs, effectively mimicing the effects of normal defensive tools but in an offensive way.
I would be worried it would bcome the off tank of choice though if it could armor break enemies to take additional damage...
I think Geo would work best as a kind of support Caster or Healer. Basically focused on creating buff zones by purifying the land. It would be awesome if they could basically put a "Hallowed Ground" style aoe under the tank so that they hardly take any damage from that upcoming tankbuster because of the protection of the earth.
A caster Tank, if that's a thing :3
Couple options here. Viking, although it doesn't look like a caster, did have access to Thunder spells as at least one water skill (Tsunami) and could probably use ice abilities for defensive cooldowns and other visual effects as a means of distinguishing it from Warrior. Green Mage would qualify as a support-based tank that and also used hammers, which would knock out two of the requests in this thread.
Heck, if we had anything based around transformation effects, it would probably be a caster tank in this game.
My biggest concern is that by making Geomancer a healer it will be too similar to White Mage. It would have to have mechanics that differentiate it from White Mage, but even then, using similar elements within the same role may seem redundant.I think Geo would work best as a kind of support Caster or Healer. I think a Support DPS Caster would be better in this case. Summoning Luopans with different buffs, spells that could debuff enemies, with interesting job mechanics could work well I think
Geomancer could work as a healer without being too similar to white mage due to how they use the elements. Mainly in putting more emphasis in area buffs, heal over time, etc. Also using similar elements in the same role for the same general purposes would simply reinforce the role those elements tend to play lore wise.
Also the AST storyline introduces geomancers and they are considered to be similar to AST, or rather the other half of it. Which would lend itself to being a buffer healer, but rather then through cards it could do its buffs through area zones.

Well, I am hoping SE won't be completely stupid and release two DPS again, so I will assume Healer and Tank.
Healer: Almost certainly will be a Dancer. SE saw the desire for it in SB. Geomancer for healer makes no sense as it uses the same basics WHM does.
Tank: This one is REALLY open in the air, but we need more blunt weapons and a hammer maakes sense. I don't know what it would be called, but this is where I put my money.
DPS: Hopefully none until 6.0

Mostly have the same thoughts:Well, I am hoping SE won't be completely stupid and release two DPS again, so I will assume Healer and Tank.

Dancer: being a healer or dps. I like the idea of a healer though. Whether anyone liked FFXI DNC or WoW's Mistweaver monk (fistweaving)/disc priest, they could literally rip the mechanics out of either game, tweak a bit and bring it here and it'd work just fine. To be honest though just add DNC to the damn game however they see fit dammit! Anything after that I don't care about lol I've got my beloved RDM finally, now I just want my DNC ; ;.
Tank: Geomancer. If they insist on keeping slashing/piercing/blunt dmg debuffs in the game in their current function (for what god forsaken reason I'll never know smh) then they need another class to make use of blunt weapons. It's getting old that MNK is the only one making use of the blunt dmg debuff. Slashing has 5 jobs and piercing has 3 jobs (RDM doesn't benefit when played correctly besides a few AAs which is negligible)
Blue mage would be cool
Gunblade job would be great if they toyed with the melee/range aspect similar to RDM but make it feel different
Beastmaster would be awesome but my creativity when it comes to that job is lacking so it'd be hard for me to really speculate.
If for some reason if/when DNC is added and it isn't a healer I'd like WHM/AST/SCH to be redesigned so that another healer could be added without stepping on any toes. At the same time I feel like that would require an entire paradigm shift especially in low man content (4-8). That's a bit off topic though and better served in another thread lol.

Blue Mage sounds like a very Garlean-esque job given that they don't rely on pure forms of magic, and borrow enemy attacks; which fits in quite well with how Garleans can't use magic and steal abilities to artificially imbue themselves, and becoming tank-like in the process.
