Skill-speed affects auto-attacks. Auto-attacks in gauge. Skill speed equals more gauge, equaling MORE FROGS.
I think skill-speed will be very important lol.

It seems that skill speed affects auto attack damage and not auto attack speed currently. Try taking off your gear then putting on a bunch of skill speed and your autos will come out at the same speed. Not to mention the tooltip of skill speed doesnt remark on auto attack speed as well. More mistranslations I suppose.
Seriously? Blah, I am starting my NIN up tonight. I will switch my game over to Japanese and get back to you if it is a miss translation or not.It seems that skill speed affects auto attack damage and not auto attack speed currently. On that regard, I'm still a bit skeptical.
I am a fan of speed, yes, I would love a full sks build, but given how bad it scaled in both 2.x and 3.x, I don't expect 4.x to be the exception :/
Currently I am lvl 66, with 945 sks, this with huton reduces my GCD to 2.01s
At 60, 713 was 2.00 GCDs (354 being the base).
It wouldn't surprise me if the ratio of Sks is 50~60 points for each 0.01 GCD :/
If anything I feel like sks will be a stat of which we'll look for a target amount, a sweet spot based on personal preference.
Edit: Welp, if you disregard stats for the sake of sks, you can get as much as more than 2k :x
That should count for something...
Shouldn't this be in the patch notes? Maybe you can check this point in them

Skill speed does increase auto attack hitrate ..over time
Think of Skill Speed as helping you maintain over 250 Auto-Attack Hits per 11mins.. consider every auto attack being 1k+ dmg thats 250k Dmg from auto's if your always hitting the boss. The more Skill speed that more hits you will do in those 11mins, the less weapon delay, even more hits you will do over time..
It also does improve GCD ...but to get 1.81 gcd you need roughly 3k... 2.2k will get you 1.90 gcd
Highest @ hits in 11mins is roughly well over 300. Thats with 2.40 weapon delay and huton
The least is 250 with no gear or huton.
Currently on average with ilvl314 you will get 297 Hits in 11mins with a 2.56 delay weapon(320 susano wpn)

I tried to test that on a Dummy , had 2 different boots with the same itemlvl: one with SS/krit and the other one with krit/dhit, used the lvl 70 weapon...It seems that skill speed affects auto attack damage and not auto attack speed currently. Try taking off your gear then putting on a bunch of skill speed and your autos will come out at the same speed. Not to mention the tooltip of skill speed doesnt remark on auto attack speed as well. According to ACT 65 SS added 6 min and 6 max dmg (6 average) to my AAs compared to the boots without SS , there wasn't an increase of AA swings though...
I'm not sure if that's correct but it would mean that 1 SS adds ~ 0.09 dmg to our AAs at lvl. 70.
Sry for my bad english ._. It isn't my native language
My sample size wasn't big though, tested both for only 11 min each, so it might be not accurate enough
Skill speed is such an interesting stat now because of how it can impact our rotation and ninki guage.
Ninki moves are gated behind ninki and cooldowns. Regardless of how fast you're generating ninki you can only use TCJ every 100 seconds and bhava every 50. This means that we want to generate enough ninki to keep both of those on cooldown, or 320 ninki every 100 seconds. 30 of that comes from mug, leaving us needing 290 from auto attacks, or 48.3 autos. Conveniently an auto attack speed of 2 seconds yields 50 auto attacks over 100 seconds, and giving up 1 auto during TCJ puts us at 49 auto attacks, right where we need to be. But this means we need 100% up time on the boss, obviously not realistic. Every extra auto attack we can get in from additional skill speed provides a buffer to allow for movement while keeping TCJ and Bhava as close to on cooldown as possible.
Having enough skill speed can also allow us to change the rotation. At normal skill speed levels we're using shadow fang every 3rd combo and clipping the last tick on the dot, sacrificing 40 potential potency. If we can get the gcd down to 1.75 we can use shadow fang every 4th combo and avoid clipping, allowing more uses of AE. This requires skill speed of 1523... quite a bit, but not out of the realm of possibility considering SB stats.
We don't know stat weights yet, so skill speed could end up being utter garbage for us just like HW. It's food for thought, though.

Its not the skill speed, it's the Weapon Delay. Less Weapon Delay, faster Auto-Attacks = more swings which also = more ninki's faster. Though Skill speed DOES improve auto attack rate, its purpose is still designed around GCD, and thats a great thing cause it works well together. At the moment we can only reach 1.90s GCD with the most SS available.. at max ilvl with all melds skill speed we can reach 1.96s. https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme...ft_skillspeed/
Skill Speed affecting Auto Attacks is only half of what it does. Until we get a relic weapon that has 2.40 Delay like lvl50 relic, will we then see dramatic improvements to Skill speed potential.
going from 2.56s delay weapon like our highest ilvl weapon, to a 2.40s delay weapon there is increase of min: 16 more swings maximum 22+ which equates to over 22k dmg at lvl70 in 11min fights time limit.
+When you include Huton into the mix.. Your basically doubling your swings, so an additional 50-75k additional dmg, that you are innately doing without any input but being near boss.
+Include Trick attack, slashing debuff, faster and more ninki gains/use,
Your looking at over 100k+ dmg you are doing just cause you have skill speed build that you don't have to think about.
Why is Skill speed great? it provides garanteed damage over time with only requiring you to be near the boss AND another side of it is how many inputs of skills you can do over course of 11min fight.
It helsp provide and sustain of 250 swings that we do on average on a fight w/ 2.56 weapon. While maintaining high rate of skills used, regardless of the weapon's delay.
It also provides a buffer if high enough skill speed to allow to make up the time spent running away from mechanics and AoE.
For example: Having a SS focus build, you are able to gain more swings over time, thus say you gain 8 additional swings, over someone who doesn't have a SS build, if you both ran away form mechanic, but you had to run far away, even if you returned back to the boss 4-8 secs later, you would still swing more than the person who only had to move short distance when the fight is over, thus still doing more damage (8k+ dmg for example)
NOT TO MENTION Ninjas can ran away and do ninjutsu/ninki/skills/spells while running away for dmg WHICH Skill speed's purpose is all about.
