Not asking people to be great, we are asking to haves some kind of check filter so some people are not stuck with people so sub par where I might want to kick them, but people refuse the kick because "it is only xxx" if there is any kind of dps check you will not be able clear it with these type of people. I seen someone say "that was a dick move" for kicking out a healer for letting the tank repeatedly die because all slots was level 20 or under NQs letting the tank dye repeatedly in stone vigil from the heals being way too weak. (Was also repeatedly warned and try get them to try deal with spaming healing more) Some people expect you to accept sub par play no matter how bad it is.

You had to clear silver in the proving grounds for your chosen role.

For DPS. It was basically just a few encounters that taught you basic situational awareness, how to understand mechanics, and made sure you were capable of clearing dps checks (ilvl was scaled, of course, putting everyone on equal footing).

For Healers, you had to keep a party of NPCs alive through various scenarios, learn basic cooldown and mana management for when things get tough, and how to prioritize dispelling debuffs on your party members.

For Tanks... well, i never did this one personally, but to my knowledge you had to take a party of NPCs and protect them while being healed by a sub-par healing npc. It taught tanks how to sustain themselves effectively through proper cooldown usage and keep aggro.
we have that already is called hall of the novice , but is easy since u are lvl 15 , a "hall of the veteran "70" version would be the same thing

That's not mandatory though, and somehow I think the sort of people that would benefit from something telling them they're doing badly aren't the type to do that sort of thing by choice.

They were actually easier than i'm making them sound at the silver level of difficulty. At gold, things get more hectic all over the place, but silver is just a very average difficulty (bronze just makes sure that you are classified as a living organism)

It was great, the people who were incapable of completing them whined on the forums, but the quality of players you'd run into in random heroic dungeons was greatly increased (the average level of self awareness increased from dead tuna to sentient nihilistic pumpkin), and queues didn't take much of a hit. People who were bad were forced to learn and improve their gameplay to meet the most basic standards, or they were forced to sulk in their shame.

This sounds a lot like the "Hall of the Intermediate" some have been asking for, with "Hall of the Novice" seemingly being the "Bronze" level of it.

Having a "Hall of the Intermediate" to pass in SB sounds good to me, general mass needs more motivation to care, not this "carry me plz"

The MSQ is the content gate for lv 70 content.

To be fair, the game should not have to hold your hand and say "you need better gear for this instance you can now run that's 5-10 levels higher than what you currently have." I can't speak for others but on the way up, if it's better than what I have, it's getting equipped.

The same goes for picking up new skills; why would you NOT want to get new skills? Why would you not want to have a more rounded out kit to play your job?

People are asking for content gates, but that's hardly the issue. Player awareness and initiative is.

Unfortunately, none of these skill checks will stop the problem because it won't stop someone from passing said check then spamming skill 1, only using ice spells, watching netflix, etc. You can't program your way out of bad player behavior. Can the skill checks be useful? for some yes, as a gate from deliberately bad playing? no. It could only stop those that are legitimately bad at the game and I don't think there are many of those to be honest.

This. Job quests could be made mandatory too and I'd have no problem with that, because finishing job quests should be the standard anyway. WoW's silver Proving Grounds was about as hard as job quests and MSQ solo battles.
