Why are summoners so neglected?

LOL Rydia was a BLM? Nonono, she was absolutely a summoner. I am not accepting anything but the fact that a PET CLASS won the player poll back when we were supporting and paying for this game and told we would get a pet class. Dot mage is NOT a pet class.

If you want a traditional pet class, that's fine. I'm all for new and different jobs. What I'm really not for changing core gameplay of jobs just for the sake of it, or for the sake of a few. Look how many people hate Wanderer's Minuet and Gauss Barrel. I ditched BLM because I couldn't stand how it plays at 60 (I know people who quit over it).

Also, yes Rydia was a BLM. You missed where I said "Summoners have been many things in the FF Series."

No. Just no. From the link you posted: She is the first dedicated Summoner in the Final Fantasy series, and also excels in casting Black Magic, making her an excellent offensive mage and thus her stat growth is geared toward magic use.

Please tell me where it says she's a BLM? SMN use black magic, yes, but they are no BLM.

Also, "Rydia can use Black Magic and learns every spell, up to and including Meteor, but she learns them later than Palom due to her emphasis on Summon Magic" "As a Summoner, Rydia has high magic stats but low physical stats and can summon Eidolons, magical creatures that appear at her behest to devastate enemies."

As an aside... are you able to tie a pet action, to a hotkey?

Because I once had tremendous trouble getting Limit Breaks to trigger, using a mouse to click the hotbar tile. Click Nothing Click Nothing Click Nothing oh the Monk finally set it off -

Then I tied the hotbar tile to a hotkey, started using the hotkey, and have never had any trouble since.

Yoshida hates bard. Bard gets nerfed into oblivion and turned into a ghetto bow mage. Still not as good as black mage.
Summoner is also a ranged caster/ We can't have them being better than black mage. They get no new summons. We'll add different shades of lipstick to put on the same pig, and they'll like it. Or maybe they'll get the hint and switch to black mage.
Yoshida likes PvP. Can't have a tank that's hard to kill. Paladin gets zero magic mitigation. Easy pickin's for black mage.

PLDs are insanely annoying in PVP, though. They're actually the meta tank pick for Feast, IIRC, because of how their kit is tooled much better for PVP scenarios than PVE ones.

I think you're looking for problems.

First, you can't look for a pattern off one example. We've had one expansion and have no idea what is coming to either BLM or SMN in the second.

Bards are in a great place right now. Say what you what you want about WM but they've almost always had a place in this game.

Summoners have almost always been more sought after throughout this games life, so... SE can have SMN being better than BLM?

Yes, the pet hotbar is under the keybinds function so they are definitely bindable. Go to Keybinds > hotbars > all the way down at the bottom.

You can also drag and drop a pet action to your own hotbars and even write macros to change your hotbars to match pet actions by swapping them out when you cast certain egi.
