Soon to be base game plus expansion plus subscription plus items locked in a cash shop plus jump potion. Please look forward to it!
Possibly.I find 3 is the magic number, most people seem fine with buying a game with a cash shop (or DLC), or buying a game and subbing, or playing a game with a cash shop and a subscription. Game + sub + shop is to much.
A subscription isn't an easy sell nowadays I agree, but it would be much easier if FFXIV wasn't decked out with every other money making scheme on top of it.
I personally don't have a problem with it. I just see it as another way to offer support to a company for a product I enjoy, for things that you aren't required to have. But that's just my perspective on it.
Because it's not just "extra" stuff. Emotes are things we in the past would have received from a cute little quest. Now? $7 in the mogstation, per character. The fact that it's in the mogstation at all is bad, and at that PRICE? Absurd.
seven dollars is nothing tho its seven dollars, the thing is its up to you whether you believe that emote is worth your attention for me its not for some it is, but its not like its something you have to have again its just a want. Everything in the cash shop is a want, SE provides everything that we need to play the game in the game, why are people butthurt about optional items.
This reminds me of a post I made on entitlement , samething goes here people want same achievements as people who worked for those achievements, and it seems now the people in the wrong are those whom have more money than others to blow. Like its just a way for the game to make extra money give them a break they give us so much already why get upset that they are making side cash from those who have the extra money to buy it. On a balance beam 50 plus emotes compared to like under 10 for sale I believe we have plenty of things for our sub, I cant believe people are complaining about that ten they didnt put in the game.
And just last month we got the dote emote again for our 15 dollar sub I forgot about that one.
Almost everything you buy the product and you pay extra you buy cable at base price if you want those extra channels better have some extra money, you buy a gym membership if you want all the extra stuff that come with some extra money. If your in school want to take extra hours more money, you want those extra dlc in other games after you buy the base game more money. Like this is not a new concept , this is business nothing more just like jump potion is business Im ok with not having everything just because I paid enough to play the game every month, if I cant afford cash shop items then I just cant Im not gona say the game is wrong for having them.
Let them make money why not you enjoy their game so let them profit as much as they can for all they give us all Im saying is just be thankful. As I already mention while they where putting these items in cash shop they still gave us a new dance four our 15 dollars a month, so why get mad about the other two they didnt just give us is it really that big of a deal that we only got one thing instead of all three things for our monthly sub.

This is what we call "nickle and diming". Some customers see what they view as a low price and think "Oh it's not that much" and get it. Repeated, those little bits of cost add up to be oftentimes even more cost than a few big prices.
And 7 dollars is hardly cheap for an emote. It's almost half the price of a subscription. I really wish people valued money more :/
It's $7 for an emote that in the past would have been added as a quest reward, and it's not even account-wide. Think about dollar value here, for crying out loud... $7 in the free-to-play game I play takes me a LOT further, and that game didn't start putting basic emotes in the cash shop. PLUS everything is account-wide there.
Also, this is not a free-to-play game; we already are required to pay a monthly sub to access it.
That mindset is why DLC is the norm these days. lolseven dollars is nothing tho its seven dollars, the thing is its up to you whether you believe that emote is worth your attention for me its not for some it is, but its not like its something you have to have again its just a want. Everything in the cash shop is a want, SE provides everything that we need to play the game in the game, why are people butthurt about optional items.
These are a couple examples of how DLC costs can add up
Just those two games alone. And this isn't including the rest of the games I have on Steam, as well as my console games.
And I'd just like to add to this, Total War: Warhammer is a game I play that often has people complaining about the price of DLCs. $18 for a non-fleshed out race for example. Yet its DLCs come out to be somewhere around $60 in total, which doesn't even come close to the prices of all those small cost DLCs in your example.
Just food for thought. Lower prices don't always mean lower prices in the end. It's a bit disappointing people still fall for this tactic.
But who writes the rules on what a game can and can not do, 7 dollars is a burger and a fry and your local burger joint. In the past month we got what two free emotes for our sub the dote emote for vday and now the new dance.
So what your saying is its not enough to have gotten those on the house for our sub but we deserve the other two as well yea for something as small as an emote seven dollars is something I would not pay and Im simply not going to if i buy something from the mog its gona be a mount or something which Ive gotten two. I prob paid two months sub for them together 30 bucks but that was my choice the game already provides plenty of mounts for me for my sub. I guess the better question is what can they sale on the mog station for people to just chill, cause Ive seen post about the odin mount whys it on the mog station put it in game. Then the dresses community says put those in the game we pay our sob, and now this an emote after we just got two on the house put that in the game then.
So basically its just a bunch of anti business people here because look around there are zero sub based games with no cash shop, its hardly any sub games left period. So would you rather the game go free to play and full on cash shop are sale irrelevant things in the mog station to make extra money cause we cant have it both ways. We cant think our 15 dollars a month is gona to be enough for them , and then complain about cash shop, but then on the other hand not want a free to play game. A sub isnt enough in any other game so what makes you think it would be any different on this one. From just doing basic math lets say from our subs alone not counting game purchases 500,000 * 15.00 is only 7.5 million thats not alot in the entertainment world so no our subs isnt enough. And i know thats a stretch cause we dont even have 500 k subs, nor does everyone only pay 15 but its still under 20 million, so cash shop is needed I dont see how anyone doesnt get that.

"On the house" - NOTHING in this game is free. We are required to pay a sub to access it.
If FFXIV is going to put increasingly more items in the shop rather than do what they have in the past and release them directly to the game for only our sub fee, then yes - I would prefer they go free-to-play, because I do not agree that they should be able to double-dip as they have.
