FF9's steiner is not a samurai but a Knight -1 for samurai

Stragos a blue mage/loremaster is in artniks +1 for blue mage
*Stragos is also in record keeper by the way along with those blue mage sprites*

so by that count we are at 24 for blue mage
    and 21 for Samurai.

Heck Final Fantasy IV the after years had a blue mage dancer hybrid so 25 if you want to count that. Imagine if the class is a Blue mage dancer hybrid that uses blue ribbons/scarves like spider mans webs. Wouldn't that be awesome.

Look we can keep this up all day but its not gonna solve anything. Look guys my whole point is not that Blue mage is coming over samurai, It's that Samurai is not a guaranteed shoe in and that there is equal possibility that it can be another job. I am not against the samurai class in fact Id like to see it eventually as a DPS (hopefully not a tank). Im saying that the samurai "proofs" are the same as blue mage "proofs" and that blue mage is just as valid. Im just here in this thread to speculate about possible jobs the spiderman shirt could represent. I'm not here to pick fights.
Yeah, we could keep it up all day, I'm done arguing. Insisting on BLU, just like those who insist upon DNC, is anyone's right. You'll see what you want and dispute anything that doesn't fit with your own mental narrative. No point in trying to convince you otherwise. We'll just have to wait till February. Hopefully, the "(insert job) was confirmed! Why did they remove it! I'm gonna quit!" threads will be minimal.

    Projection thy name is Dorander

Yes I am in complete agreement with you. You'll see what you want and dispute anything that doesn't fit with your own mental narrative. No point in trying to to convince you otherwise. Yup I cannot wait till February when it is finally revealed. My birthday is during the Fan Festival and my birthday wish is that everyone will be happy and excited for the revelations and come together as a community as we all love and support this game. Here's hoping birthday dreams do come true.

The -true-, 'Mental Gymnastics,' are the assumptions we'll only get -2- new classes for Stormblood.
RDM has a very strong Sharlayan aesthetic and Samurai is of Doman origin, were it just to be these two classes to be introduced the entire expansion it'd be a shame to not be introduced to any more disciplines of Ala Mhigan origin. If the link to Rhauban can be made, then having BLU be that discipline would be interesting.

We will see the reveal of the second job for launch at the final fan fest, and the reveal or possibly even a hint of one to come after the release. Something more intrinsically tied to Ala Mhigo or the situation there and perhaps becomes available as the story of SB unfolds.

Personally I don't think it matters how many times any job appears. Look at ast lol. Yoshida just said the next job announced will be true to ff. Guess that's subjective.

I never considered samurai to be FF like at all really, just my opinion. I just remember it as a slow job I'd have to use in FFT to unlock other jobs that would heal and break a sword every time I used a skill. Cyan in ff6 was so slow I never used him either..lol

Steiner is a knight with a few Sam skills. Sorry but samurai don't wield the Excalibur(2), his bis weapon. He is the leader of knights of Pluto and his damn quote he calls himself a knight. And if need be I can scan my book where it lists him as a "knight"

FF9 is one of my favorites and for sure he is not listed or considered a Samurai...

Unless some of you want the Sam relic to be Excalibur lol.

Either way its in the dats so there is a very high chance it's coming in 4.0. They'll find a way to fit it into the xiv battle system and you'll see a billion lf them. . Then all the people who would love to have samurai can finally go play it and better hope its good and not homogenized like the other jobs.

It's funny cuz in xi my bf was a bis sam with mythic, relic and full salvage way back in the day and even he said who cares if they bring it because it will just end up like ninja (in the sense that its a job he didnt enjoy, multi hit animations with one damage number no ty) or how every job feels samey.

At least it will bring all my anime buddies back for a month before they quit again. >.>

What did yall think about the NPC in the Rising Stones that speaks about the Doman Samurais?

Its small, but it definitely solidifies the existence of Samurais in the games lore. kind of like how Astrologians were already in the game before it became a job.

Here's the quote, but it DOES have a story spoiler in it soo..

    SPOILER ALERT!

    Sacrificing oneself for one's duty...
Such actions remind me of the warriors of Doma--of the samurai and shinobi who died for our cause.

Number of games featuring Astrologian prior to its FFXIV debut: ZERO

Stop with the "numbers proof" on both sides. Numbers mean squat, just ask the nearest Yu-Gi-Oh healer.

I think that doman npc is hinting at samurai.

Yoshida said in a recent interview that yugiri was gone for a while and coming back for a "interesting" reason or something. I'm leaning toward us learning about samurai the same way they threw ninja in.

Exactly. In the end its whatever job Yoshida decides. Has nothing to do with how many times anything appeared.

I don't think anyone's refuting that we'll get to play as SAMs at this point, now it's a tussle to be if it's now or later still. The foundation is laid out that it exists, nothing concrete saying it's right now.

NPC chatter is just lore fluff. A person reminiscing about their countrymen with war on the horizon.

Astrologian has existed before it was in tactics, and bravery second.

However, Yoshi-P did say a while back (I believe before HW came out, don't quote me, though) that it was extremely difficult for the dev team to create 3 jobs, and it was something they would never want to do again. So its pretty safe to assume that we are getting 2. Not definite, just safe.

Also, they do have to put in a lot of time in the revamping of the battle system, which I'm sure if a huge feat. That can definitely take away development time of a 3rd job, or quite honestly it could make the development of a 3rd job easier. Who knows.

IF I had to guess, I would say both SAM & BLU. At least that's what I'm hoping for.
