There wasn't any silhouettes at the HW panel, so why not then and then why now? The absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. Not everything is a secret, but everything has the potential to hold one.

His previous stance was in-fact "only two jobs" so him only saying that during the fan fest questions would be him just stating what he already said. There's nothing gained from keeping people up in the air if he's stated previously where he stood on the subject.

Yoshi is a clever man, but he is not a man who aims to completely deceive. He's made promises he could not keep, and the backlash was severe. Fans are fickle. But he doesn't hate us, purely the opposite. If he can deliver to us more, than he wants that people to look forward to it, but he knows he can't do everything so he doesn't speak in definitives when it comes to releasing something; but he will say if he cannot. Not re-confirming his previous stance means he's going to try. But if he can't deliver then there is nothing people can explicitly throw back in his face. He could keep it purely a surprise, but as you said, he wants people to speculate, but not without reason.

Just a few things I wanted to say after reading some of the newest posts.

I would need to look it up but I did hear back when hw was released that Yoshi had said doing 3 jobs was tough and didn't think they would do 3 jobs like that at once. Doesn't mean that they're only going to do do 2 jobs, with the ps3 version being dropped that could be one thing that would make it easier to do 3+ jobs for the expansion.

With Ala Mihigo we really do to know much aside from what you learn from the mnk quests. Monks were one side of the culture but they never said anything about the opposing side. Before the empire invaded if I recall right there were 2 opposing sides the monks being on the one side, the other could be a dnc or blu or any other job.

The only thing said about developing three jobs, was that Yoshida received feedback from the battle team that designing 3 jobs was "Something that they'd never want to do again, ever." and it was played for laughs. This is a far cry from him directly stating it was too difficult and that they would never do it again, only that he received complaints from the battle team over it. One also has to take into fact as mentioned above, they were also at least partially working on Ninja at around the same time as well.


These things, coupled with the fact Stormblood supposedly has an increased budget and is lacking some things that would take up asset development time at the least (no new race for example) means it should still be possible to deliver 3 jobs once again. On top of that, there was a comment from Yoshida during the 14 hour anniversary stream that there was a hint towards the number of new jobs in the Moonfire summer event, the likely allusion to there being 3 rangers, and thus 3 jobs.

If he truly referenced the number of rangers for that event as the hint for job number, then we are most likely getting 3. If it is 3, then it could be SAM tank and DNC healer. If 2, then SAM dps sounds plausible.

I don't think I'll ever understand the logic that if there's 3 jobs the trinity will be covered, yet if there's 2 they both have to be dps.

When the more logical is that if there's only 2 new jobs, one is guaranteed to at least be a tank or a healer.
