Do you NOT have a main job?

What I mean is...... do you happen to be always switching jobs/roles in your time of this game? 2 years I've been playing this game, but I can't seem to make up my mind on what I want to focus on. This is a bit troubling because tomes, week limits become an issue for me, don't get me started on the relics.... >_> And now Stormblood's gonna make things worse. Anyway, has this been happening to anyone else. Or have you been pretty focused on a job/role?

I've played one job for many years, I felt comfortable and didn't wanted to look at anything else. Sure while having downtime (throughout raid breaks), I did level my other jobs and alts, and took some looks at different jobs I might have been interested in, but I caught myself constantly falling back to that one job. Funny thing is, I don't even like the role so much, but I play it because I played it from the beginning of the game. I tried switching last summer to something else since I got burned out, but I just can't bring myself to farm more tomes or relic items etc. Not to mention, I wouldn't be able to raid with that new class that's more fun, since my static doesn't allow job/role switches. I am still looking forward to 4.0, maybe I can finally main something else, if these jobs are fun. We'll see.

When I first started when the game launched I played as drg which didn't play that long then I switch to bard as main until ninja came out and then I couldn't really decide what job I want to play as so I geared them both and once in while played whm as third job but when HW came out I stopped playing bard and took ninja as main and play whm as secondary but usually stay on ninja with how the community treats healers (which you can read about in other threads lol)

I do that mostly to meet FC demands. Blessing and a curse from how I see it, because as much as I'd like to have every job geared for every circumstance, at least trying for it means that I can provide more opportunities for friends and FC.

It helps to prioritize though. Like for Stormblood, I plan on no more than one 70 per extended role (one tank, one healer, one ranged, one melee). No idea if I'll stick to that, but at least that way I won't get too obsessed with gearing up every single job.

The only job that I can stomach playing over and over without getting tired or bored is summoner.

My main is my first character who is and always will be Bard and nothing else. That said, sometimes I play alts more than her and lately don't even play her 'first' in new content because, while part of me really wants to, I favour appropriately pairing off my characters with that of my friend's. I'm more than willing to play Stormblood on some alts before my main this time around even if it kills me a little inside to neglect my main for the sake of both pairing off my characters and experiencing the story on my Warrior whom aesthetically is the most fitted to filling the WoL role.

Each of my characters only has one Job between them so maybe my circumstances are a little different since I change to whoever I feel like playing or what role I need at the time, but regardless of that, I will always consider my Bard, K'nahli, my one and only main.

I always say my main is tank, but I honestly hop between the majority of my jobs fairly frequently. About the only one I hate touching is scholar because of how boring it is to be a dps bot, but I suppose my 'mains' would be PLD/DRK/NIN/MCH. Used to main Warrior but I got bored of always being off tank.

I think the term "Main Job" means something a bit different to everyone. I've heard people use it differently. Which is fine, just be aware that everyone replying might not be on the same page.

With that being said, for me "Main Job" refers to the job that get's first priority in all of my limited resources; capped tomestone gear, weekly drops, etc. As such, it tends to be my best geared job at the time, and the job I run through the most current content. When I'm raiding, my main is the job I'm raiding with. When I'm not, it's my favorite. Ideally, the two are the same, but it's not always the case.

That's how I am doing it. I'll have one geared specifically, a dps usually, because I only like healing in group content and even then it gets tiring. I plan on switching mains to Samurai probably from Dragoon, so I am not really to invested in any class right now. (Still fairly new to the game so still trying classes, but this is my experience from other games)
